Hi everyone-

So after living with my MM for 48 hours now (and loving EVERY minute of it) I've noticed something odd: On occasion my dome lights will not fade out after closing the drivers door. This includes starting the car. The door open chime does not continue so I have to assume the door switch is alright.

One time, I opened and closed the door anyways (which activated the chime) and the dome lights faded off. The second time they stayed on the only way I could get them to turn off was to rotate the dimmer switch fully to the right and then back one notch. This has continued to work on subsequent attempts when the dome lights stay on.

When I first bought the car, I was playing around checking things out and noticed that the dimmer switch had almost no detent at the "dome" position and would not activate the dome lights. After rolling it back and forth a few times it started to control the domes as usual and has been fine ever since.

Part of me is hoping it's the LCM as I'm still under the umbrella of campain 14N01. However I'm leaning more towards the headlight switch/dimmer as the culprit. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

You should be asking Fastblackmerc, he would know what's going on

He is the lighting guru for the MM...

I haven't experienced this problem, but I bet it's the headlight switch.

Agree w/FBM ^^^

Also, even if it IS the LCM, the campaign only applies to headlight issues...if you have none, they won't replace it for free.

Could be the sensor in the door thinking it's not completely closed....mine has done that and usually slamming it again fixes it........hasn't happened now in a long time!!:shake:

Thanks guys.

I need a few other boneyard parts for the beast (horns, passenger door lock actuator, clips for the radiator cover) maybe I'll try to snag a headlight switch before condemning the door latch/switch assembly.
