My Crown Vic came with the standard LX wood trim. It is not the worst thing ever, but definitely did not fit the more performance oriented feel I am going for with the car. I really like the silver trim from the Marauder dash, so I started looking into options for replacing or covering that surface. Conveniently I happen to manage a company that does vinyl work, and I have a knack for vinyl wrapping. I already did my B pillars and the trunk inserts in a gloss black, so why not!

Taking a page from Ford's performance vehicles of that generation, I opted for a simulated brushed aluminum finish. I am very impressed with the material 3M offers, it is easy to work with and very durable. It made wrapping the compound curves very straigtforward. Once I got the dash trim wrapped, I decided to do the door inserts to break up the sea of black. Very pleased with the results. Check out the pics below and let me know what you think!

Thanks, the material is really good! Definitely plan on using it in the future. Playing with the idea of wrapping the whole

They do indeed make simulated carbon fiber vinyl, I can wrap in that material as well. I believe it comes in a few versions (gloss or matte, and several colors.) Let me know if you're interested, I am happy to help.

I was gonna do the brushed aluminum for all the dot matrix trim in my Marauder. My long dash trim piece has two dents that annoy the crap out of me; and this would be a cheaper alternative than one replacement dash piece since I have a guy here at the shop who's gotten pretty good with vinyl...plus it looks great after seeing it done on a black interior now. Thanks for sharing.

Are those trim pieces a separate metal insert on the MM? On mine the wood is actually molded in to the same piece as the black trim. Just needed a reeeaally steady hand when trimming.

Marauder dash trim has metal/aluminum insert, but is not removeable..very thin material, easy to dent

Super Job. The look in a Ford is perfect. Woodgrain never made sense to me in the Ford. I did the roof of the Town Car in the Black brushed aluminum so I know how real that stuff looks.

Thank you for all the compliments! Headed out to a local show tonight. I was hoping to have the interior treatment complete by now, but work and life said "no."

Soon I'll have the vinyl finished, all of the bullitt pedal covers on and the custom leather shift boot in. Then it will look like a normal car again!
