I tried a few Google searches but failed to find answers to my two questions. Your help is appreciated.
Q1. Is the 2004 differential limited slip or locker?
Q2. Is the axle shaft spine 28 or 31?

Thank you, sir.
If you were replacing your differential, what make and model do you recommend?
Also, axles while I am at it, please?

I built my rear diff , and used Moser 31 spline axles , Auburn Pro series diff , Ford racing 4:10 gears , Ford racing complete rebuild kit , and Mag-Hytec rear cover , runs perfect , but I'm thinking of swapping in Richmond 4:33 gears!

Did you encounter an installation problem with the Mag-Hytec rear cover? I ask because I stumbled across on of our posts:

"One major issue - the rail reinforcements to the rear of the pan need to be cut away because the MM chassis crossmember (directly behind the pan) is so close it prohibits installation."

He's talking about Transmission pans , and he is wrong as i also have the trans pan and it goes on fine and i didn't cut anything.
On the rear diff cover i used shorter sway bar end links as i have the bigger Addco sway bar which was hitting the rear diff cover until i used the shorter end links to pull the bar away from the cover.

Ford 31 spline shafts, and an Eaton Detroit Trutrac is the best upgrade you can do with the OEM rear end
