So I went to take this kiddies to get some McDonalds today. Im sitting at the window an look down and notice my gauge is dangeroulsy close to "HOT" Grab the food and park it and let it cool down. COT was sizzling and leaking a little where it goes into the block and the cap on the coolant tank was leaking just a tad bit.
I had just drove the car last night back home from Charlotte's airport (50min drive) with zero issues overheating. So I'm guessing thermostat.
So to my next issue, I've seen 2 different Motorcraft Thermostats listed. One is the RT1085 (180*) that everybody says is the right one and the other is RT1110 (195*) which is listed as the stock replacement at O'Reilly's and currently available locally so which one??
I am eaton swapped and will call marty and see what was put in or if the stocker is still in.
Once the issue is resolved what do I need to check for to make sure I didn't warp the heads or anything crazy like that????
I have read over this thread already so yea

Theres no way i would put in a 195* stat , a 170* sounds much better.

RT1110 is what I went with. The Reisch one didn't arrive in time for me either. The RT1110 works fine and the car is running like before. I don't know anything about the RT1085, but if it is the Motorcaft one for the Mach 1, it should work.
JUST DON'T GET MOTORAD. THEY ARE JUNK FOR DOHC FOR OUR CARS.

Fan is working, didn't want to chance driving it but I let it idle in the driveway for about 10 minutes and it chilled at normal temp for a while until I gave it a little gas, then it started rising, fuse is not blown and fan was turning before I shut the car down.
Stuck thermostat it is!!
The RT-1110 and RT1085 are both out of stock everywhere locally. Guess the wife will be dropping me off on Monday!

I have no clue where that leak is coming from!! Drove the car around the neighborhood after burping and all was good until I saw that leak!!!!

Jeff says it could possibly be the hose under the intake

I agree with Jeff , check the heater hose connections , your rear cooling mod hose if you have one.

The O'Reilly's listing is wrong. The factory thermostat in the Marauder is 188° so the RT1085 is the better choice.

Well, lets hope you didn't warp a head, or burn a valve. I'd compression test it after that.

ok well I got the wiper cowl off finally and checked everything out. nothing that I can see up top is leaking. the top of the transmission bellhousing is clean. I was literally standing on top of the engine looking down behind the S/C
I have looked and touched almost every hose or line coolant runs through this car and still nothing. Is there anything that the bellhousing covers up that could be leaking???

Under the intake.
You should pressure test the system and listen for it.

also you need new o-rings for your COT as you say it was leaking there, if coolant comes out air can get in and then it will overheat for sure.

Yea figured I would buy all the o rings and junk at Napa or OReilly when I start tomorrow night

Well there is defintely a leak under the intake, but with it not pressurized I don't know where, I'll he heading to autozone to grab one of there pressure tester thingies and testing it out, but so far I know for a fact the COT gaskets need to be replaced

Anybody know the COT o ring sizes, they pretty much fell apart when I took them off, also the size for the heater core return o rings???

No idea buddy. Sorry. You can try matching them up at a parts store but buying ford ones would be best.

Initial pressure test was fine up to about 10#'s until the passenger side of the COT start fizzing, will be replacing the O-ring again and going back to the test hopefully tonight so I can start putting everything back together.

The engine block has a slight slant to it, so that if the COT o-rings were the source of the leak the antifreeze would be in the lower valley - and drip out the back.
Hopefully that's all it is!

The RT-1110 is a 190 degree T-stat from the sources I'm looking at.

I changed the O rings on the valley coolant tube just in case, running to grab some more O-rings tonight, and hopefully get this sorted out, not driving is killing me softly..........

Car is holding pressure right at about 17lbs for the last 15 minutes or so. COT and heater core return o rings were replaced. So far so good.

Car is back together, and running, had a slight issue with one of the injectors but got it sorted out, going to fill her up and burp her tomorrow and hopefully have it running by the weekend.
Just need to put back on the wiper cowl and all the little odds and ends
