Buying Vortec kit. There is an option that cought my eye--and I am trying to "justify" additional cost vs. true non functioning aesthetics.

Option is to have all tubes coated "ceramic gloss black" for +$395.

I've seen others whipple engines in all black (Tuxido), and it really "called out" to me.

My head covers are black--my entire car and motor only have 15,000 miles and car really had never been driven in rain. underside and motor are spotless/showroom now.

I dont think after spending such a sizable chunk--i'd like the added "aluminum" look of the tubes (as they would look more like they were added) unless they were all black--when they wouldnt stand out so much.

I think the Vortech kit would look "tough" and more like it was stock, if it were all black--like the crossover tube and JLT tubes are now; more like how it should have come (I am in CA so "SMOG" is an issue).

I am wrestlng with this ONLY because this additional cost has no true correlation to RWP etc... Does this make sense?

I thought about "Plastidipping" the tubes--but again--this doesnt make sense either.

SO... additional spend for Black or stay with aluminum?

If there is any ceramics in the paint it will act as a heat shield to keep your pipes (and air intake) cooler than without.

good looks and a touch of function, does that help? Oh yeah there is the money/coffin thing too... lol

Love the functionality part. Thank you.

The Tuxido Black Whipple really struck a cord with me.

I would definitely do the powder coat option , a friend had his tubes coated gloss black , it looks 100% better! you won't regret it.

Powder coat them yourself. I mean get them and have done locally for way less than 995

I have a Vortech V-7 in YS trim on my '93 Mustang GT. The inlet pipes are ceramic coated (looks like polished Aluminum)
The ceramic coating does keep engine heat out of the airstream, but I suspect it is more for looks than HP improvement.

For my ADTR Vortech Stage 2 system, I am going with black tubing and a black blower.

I definitely suggest the ceramic coating. All my cars have it and it's both for function and looks.

Not my car but this little peek helped my decision.
Hope it helps yours.;)
Not a gloss,
looks more like a matte finish.
This is what I'm going with.

Thanks all. This seals the deal. All black, blackout... Either ceramic or powder coated, however leaning ceramic :)

Thanks all. I really appreciate it.

Now that you told me the ceramic coating may have a function (however slight), I feel much better about it.

And am thankful for all advice.
