Dan from Silver Fox has asked me a question I hope someone here can help me answer:
"Each FORD chassis comes with a different shift lever on the transmission...I am not sure I have ever seen what a Marauder one looks like. Mustang, truck, vic, tbird, etc...all different levers on the trans.
Examine drivers side, under the black box, need a pic of that or code from it (see photo):"

The lever for the Marauder is 7A256 and the Shift Link Insulator for that lever is E0SZ-7341-B.
I had to replace my shift link insulator a few weeks ago cause it rotted out. OEM was some type of rubber but the Ford replacement now is a nylon plastic that has to be pressed on the lever which sits behind the Digital Trans Range Sensor.

Dan states, "That is a mustang lever."
I am seeking a picture of a stock 2004 shift lever.

This is what the one in the MM looks like, I am not 100% sure on the part number as there are several levers with the "7A256" in the part number.

Turn the key ONE click forward, set the parking brake and then put the shifter all the way in FIRST and take another picture just like the second picture you took. In the second picture where that nut is that has the red marking on it, that metal arm/linkage connects to the shift lever which is sitting behind the digital trans range sensor (black plastic piece the size of a wallet) as in Park will move it behind, in first gear it will bring it forward.
Here is the thread I started when I had to replace the shift lever insulator (aka grommet/bushing). http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=97408

lever in question is mounted behind the MLPS/TR sensor. pulling the shifter down into low will will allow to see the end of the arm with the bushing, but you wont see the actual shaft unless you unbolt the MLPS from the case.
