As an active duty military guy I thought I'd employ Prez Clintons philosophy in regards to warranty work on my 03A. I've had a problem with smoke on startup and thanks to the site had a good idea of what was causing it. I had it documented at my local Ford dealer (not impressed with the Mercury dealers around here) who replaced the crankcase PCV valve (didn't fix the problem) before taking my car over to Dennis' for my upgrades. While at the shop Dennis also noted the problem and verified with his Ford contacts that I could get the repair done under warranty at the local dealership prior to beginning his work on transforming my car. With my mods complete and back home in record time I thought I'd try my local guy rather than driving back out to the Jacksonville area. Following Dennis' advice since they "didn't ask" I "didn't tell". End result: bad valve guides #5 cylinder replaced under warranty. Zero smoke on startup. I had to bite the inside of my mouth from laughing when I asked the service mangager if they had any problems working on my car since it technically was'nt their normal Ford product. He replied that the engine work was no problem and that he was very impressed the way that Mercury had worked the exhaust, underdrive pulleys and driveshaft. :rasta:

I'm glad that your dealer was as cool about those mods as they were. Out of curiosity, what year is your Marauder, how many miles do you have, and did they replace the entire head, or just the valve guides?

Its got 2200 miles on her and they only had to replace the guide valves. In regards to their being cool about my mods, I honestly don't think they knew that the mods weren't standard since they'd never worked on a MM before.
