shorty headers work?!?!?!

i am looking for a shorty header,s for my 2003 MM. i was wondering in ( JBA-1625s-7jt ) will work for the marauder. this part ## , is listed for 03-04 Cobra-and Mach 1 , i thinking these 2 cars share the same head and exhaust port and bolt design , of the 03-04 MM. I not worried about the exhaust system hooking up directly , since i will have shop do that , but will this part ## bolt to marauder,s heads and clear engine bay !??!?!?! i not intrested in full length header.. or is there other shorty header,s that fit and work with marauder, I real want equal length shorty headers.. i know it seems like a lot of work and $$ for 10-12 hp ?? i want to keep the car N/A..

i do have full 2 1/4 exhaust system , with no cat,s any more , 12 inch case straight through style , Boral XR-1 muffler,s and i have 3 1/2 magna flow straight through tips , ( no resanator,s ) CAI , 91 octane , SCT-4 Mo,s Performance Tune ,and 4.10 , so i thinking it help out some the shorty header,s

I hear the JBA ones are better than the Ford Racing ones. If you want really cheap Ford Racing ones with lead pipes, I have them. All you have to do is get the crack fixed..... Shoot me a PM

i hear the opinion,s that shorty Header,s not worth the cash or hp gains , i still wondering if the part number ( jba-1625s-7jt ) would bolt up to our MM heads and fit or if there is any other part ## for shorty header,s out there , i think it still have to be worth 10-12 hp..

SW or KOOKS headers fit the best & once in,They will last a long time.:up:

I thought about getting JBA shorties, but the price comparison between them and SW long tubes I decided to go with the SW.

If you're staying NA shorties will work for better flow and some power.

I put down 488rwhp/440rwtq through cobra shorties and it would've been more if I didn't max out my fuel system with my little vortech S-trim. If you're on a budget, are better than nothing, just know they probably will crack.

Stick a push bar, a long whip antenna on it and some big halogen lights and go do the Baja 1000. No wait... better still... take it to the tractor pull over at the county fair. :P

I've had 2 Marauders and been driving and working on them longer than you. ANNNNNNND the only reason why I don't have one now is because I'd rather send my kids to private school to get an better than public education. If you call a VW Jetta a Marauder Sport ...then ...whatever.

I'm guessing your not getting the point to all of this. Originally, you gave your opinion.

I responded because YOU aren't usually that direct to kick down what the OP original question is; will shorties work and what is the part number? He also stated that it might seem like a lot of work for 10-12 HP gain. Maybe he doesn't have a ton of cash and THIS is all he can afford or maybe he's even getting them for free. He asked if they would help him out. Who are we to judge. THAT'S the point. If you don't see it like that.. then that's your problem. I offered up a link to a good priced pair of headers on CL for the OP. What did you do besides cut him down :confused:

This is suppose to be a Mercury Marauder forum for us to share ideas for our brothers who ride the same 4 door cobra. Stop putting folks down man. If someone wants shorty headers, then so be it. Im no expert and there's alot of experience in here. Keep it clean fellas

I've had Ford Racing shortys on my Marauder for over 10 years.. no cracks. Maybe others cracked because they weren't installed correctly :dunno:

Lessons I learned in life, using my Mustangs as a guide:

Shorty headers do noting for performance. They serve as a poor man's way of saying they have "headers". Life begins on modified engines with long tube headers. All of my Mustangs have long tube, ceramic coated headers.

With this lesson learned early in life, when I ordered my Marauder, I also ordered the S-W complete exhaust. Now my car was ready for the next set of mods. In order, that was a cold air kit, stroker kit, and ignition upgrades. I still want to install a whipple, but they are hard to find.
