i am wondering if mid-length header - ## JBA . ( 6635-sjt ) will work for 2003 MM. this is a part ## for 03-04 Cobra and Mach 1 , i am thinking we share the same head in the MM. of these 2 mustang,s with there 4.6 DOHC......

i don,t want to go with full length header,s - S.S.W. or Kooks , because of ground clearance , i live in a hilly town with every business has a driveway to get into the parking lot and to be truthfully , i like to take my MM to the full service car wash and i don,t want Full length header,s on , because , i don,t want to lose the ability to go to the full service car wash , , because of full length headers, , this part ## might be listed as full length , but if you look the part ## up and there a mid-range header.. the shorty header,s for MM. look like they are not much better then the MM stock exhaust manifold..

Please i not here to argue the point if it,s - worth the time , effort and $$ to HP , gain and i want to keep my MM , N/A. i want to talk about Fitment, will it bolt to head, match EX port , bolt pateren, O2 sensor placement , will it clear engine bay , or has any one tried to use this Header in a MM or look into this part ## ?!??! and general fitment , I would be willing to heat up a primary or 2 and dent it in with a hammer for small clearance , i was wondering if it would clear the engine bay .. I will have the exhaust redone to fit the collector ,

I thougth I read here a few years ago that the stock exhaust manifold actually flow pretty decent for staying n/a and maybe just a CAI and that real gains come from long tubes. I'm not here to talk you out of it, do what you want..long tubes require a tune before use or the car will run bad and throw CEL. not sure of shorties.

Just do what I did, left the stock manifolds alone and replaced everything from the manifolds to the tips with 2.5" mandrel bent stainless.

That sounds waay cheaper. I like the idea.

Cheaper than headers, bought two new cats, carried over mufflers and tips. Picked up about 9rwhp and 17tq, when comparing dynos before and after the exhaust was done.
Some SW headers will net me some good gains, especially on my new motor.

So just the high flow exhaust added 9 hp? I've got all except cats as of now .looking now .

There are some other factors, such as pipe material, crush vs mandrel bent and understand how to create properly flow for optimal exhaust gas scavenging.

Crush Bent on the Left and Mandrel Bent on the Right... which one would flow better?

And to the OP Mercuryguy, Kooks headers are Mid-Length headers, not full length long tube. SW is the only header that is a true long tube header for the Marauder.
Any header for the Mustang dohc will fit with some clearance done but the EGR tube connection is on the opposite side.

So how much did you end up having in this exhaust when done? Parts list?

$750 for the piping/labor installed, $180 for the cats that I bought myself (Magnaflow 99656HM ?), $40 to two v-band clamps, reused my Aero Turbine mufflers which were $160? years ago and whatever the Meg's res-delete tips were going for 7-8 years ago. I'd guess around $1300 for everything added up, I've spent several hundred a few times on other exhaust setups in the past years, rear-car delete, flowmasters installed, aeros installed, non-muffler side exiting exhaust pipes.

Not all Mustang 4V headers will fit. If you are shopping for LT's, I will tell you now that some Cobra ones will not. Example being the MAC brand, primaries 5&6 run dead center of our steering shaft.

JBAs will work. motor shim plus hammer on tube - search its been done on MM before. You will have to custom fab mid pipes.

For a Mach1 IIRC.

Go to https://moddedmarauders.net/ Create a user name and PM Musclemerc. He IS the resident expert on shorties for a MM.;)

Ok, BBK mid length work with hammer on one tube plus motor mount shim.

JBA shorties do work, there are 3 MM's that had these on them. Correction not sure about JBK mid/longtubes..

For the record though - Stainless works will bolt right on, fit & quality are the best.

And has proven to net the highest gains compared to others.

I just wanted to point out what model Mustang is all. I'm the one who gambled on new Cobra MAC ones and had to cut them all up and reroute the primaries. Not an overly huge deal for some, but others would be up the creek.. Not too mention a complete waste of time. Good thing I'm stubborn.

If they are the same as the post listed below they'll fit, I had them.
