A guy at work was talking some smack about all the cars he has beaten with his 2010 Camaro SS automatic. It's all stock except for a CAI. So, I invited him to go to the local track with me sometime. Well, it looks like we are heading there tonight! I can't say I am confident I'll beat him, but the Marauder is probably over due for a couple WOT sprints down the 1/8th mile anyway (since I don't drive it that hard :geezer:). I gave the Marauder a really nice bath last night, so at least she'll look good doing a couple smoky burnouts:burnout::burnout:, even if he does beat me, lol!

Luckily, he's not much of a racer from the line. He always like go from like a 30-40 roll.

He might red lite or spin out.

Tell him in as you enter the staging lanes you are not sure how well your Nitrous is going to work.

Talk a lot of smack to get him wound up. He's sure to red light.

Even if he spins a little off the line, you will lose

I think he will beat you by about 1/2 a second. Stop by and I'll loan you my Corvette. It will spank him.

Would this be the 400hp auto or the 426hp 6speed?

Lol why torture yourself?

Kick his *** and make him like it. That brand X crap ain't got a chance against a Ford/Mercury with a good driver!

Funny, I spun more than he did, 1st and 2nd. Didn't loose by much, though! :burnout:

Thanks! And, you called it! He won by a finish margin of 0.6715 the first run and 0.4977 the second time! :D

I definitely could have gotten a little closer if I had a little more seat time at the track!:banana2:

It was hardly torture, it was a blast even if I lost! The Marauder ran fantastic and the new Nitto555's were a HUGE improvement over the stock BFG's I had on last time! In fact, I raced the Camaro guy's friend in his 2008 Mustang GT manual, finish margin...0.0313! :coolman: I could have won that race too if I didn't have such a slow reaction time and 60' time.

On take off, the car spins a decent amount (not terrible, but probably 10-15' off the line) and then it spins hard from first to second (which sounds good from a spectator standpoint but I know it doesn't help my times) but it doesn't get squirrely like it did with the BFG's.

My times were pretty consistent @ 9.8 @ 74 mph. My 60' times were around 2.34. I know that sucks. I just have to work on my launch technique and that will help a lot.

4.30's might be hurting you with the street tires.
IMHO.;)

I raced one not that long ago. Even though i lost i was highly un impressed and it was the 425hp 6 speed and he was ripping every gear. Im virtually bone stock. Was on his bumper till 3rd. A sc marauder woulda destroyed it. But seeing as you only raced 1/8th and not a 1/4 , your race was over just about when the camaro was about to start pulling away.

Tips to try, let some air out of 555's if they are slipping ~28 lbs is good.
Brake torque on the line to 2800 rpm, then launch it (harder)

Yeah, that's what I was counting on! I figured it could be a close race in the 1/8th, but the 1/4 would have been ugly, lol! :P

Thanks for the tips! I should bring an air tank next time so I can pump them back up for the ride home! Last time I was there, I brake torqued the car to over 2000 rpm. Times weren't that great. Mostly because of the BFG's that were on the rear. Others suggested leaving off idle, so I left around 15-1600 as a compromise this time.

Will do! We should meet up in the meantime though! There is a cruise in on Del Prado Sunday morning from 8 till noon if you get a chance. :coolman:
