Yesterday was good.my son lives out in Mountain View,CA and he went to an airshow at Moffett Field Air base. He went for a flight in the WWII B17 bomber nine o nine and loved it.He topped that off by going for 1/2 hour of stick time in the only dual control P51 Mustang still flying. He liked that even more than driving a Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder in the mountains in Italy with a Ferrari test driver along as an instructor.
Then today I got some PM's from a member here asking me if I was the Uncle Lar who was a salesman at Gateway Mercury who stuffed a card in his DTR MM.
Well,I wasn't that Uncle Lar but as it turns out I was the second owner of that DTR.It was my first one, still in real nice shape and well cared for and well loved. That was great to hear.
Some of you guys probably met him last year in Chicago for the big shindig, but at that time he didn't know the Red Sled was my old Marauder.
I ain't gonna post who or where he is though,I'll leave that up to him.
So,it was a pretty good week end, topped off by me,out on one of my Harley's,running into a bunch of Austrians riding rental Harley's doing a Rte 66 ride, stopped in Prescott on Whiskey Row.Rte 66 is famous world wide and a big attraction bringing more tourists to the States than you'd first think. And it's just plain fun to explore, lot's of neat old stuff still remains to be seen.
