Well our car is once again mentioned in the new issue of Car and Driver (june issue). Here is the qoute:
"Marauder Jilted": The only car in Mercury's lightly populated excitement stable, the $34,945-based-priced Marauder, which, as far as we can tell, is admired mostly by our John Phillips and three steroid salesmen operating out of the New Jersey marshlands, is getting the boot. Ford says it has made a decision "to concentrate our resoures on the new launches".
Once again our car does not get the respect of the idiot journalist.

To add a little more gas to the fire...and forgive me if it's old news...but a guy at work gave me his May 2004 C&D where they had a Road test of the 2005 300C. The article was written by Aaron Robinson. In the paragraph on page 70 where it talks about 0 to 60 times it says "It puts the Mercury Marauder on a hauler home to Mama." Also on page 70 it provides the comparision charts with the Infiniti G35 and Acura TL as other comparators. They list the 300C at 0/60 of 5.3 and 1/4 mi at 13.9 for 102 mph. Then a skidpad of 0.77g and only minimal understeer. The MM has about 0.87g with the TL at 0.90g. All in all, they showed the 300C a favorable review with it being the fastest of the lot. I don't know but something smells fishy here and it ain't the Marauder.

Typical from C+D. Also read the article in the latest Hot Rod magazine. The state some negatives about eh 300c, but make them sound like nothing at all.
Magazines jumped all over the Marauder for not "smoking" the tires without using the brake, but when they say the 300C doesn't smoke the tires, they add that you can do it using the brake and all is good.

The guy obviously doesn't know about, or won't acknowledge, this board.
There is nothing new about Ford ending the Marauder to concentrate on other launches. Lets just hope they really do bring back the Marauder for 2007 or '08, and that it's still RWD

one positive, once dealer inventory is gone, if someone really wants a marauder now, they have to buy it used. No more can someone go to a dealer and get 0% financing and monthly payments of $400 or so...so we are all on the same playing field now.

That tidbit of an article really stinks of some major bias. These guys really consider themselves professional journalists? I bet if Chrysler discontinued the 300C the next day, it would get some major ass kissing.
