Hey guys-

Haven't posted much yet, enjoying my first month with the MM. I figured I would share my budget audio setup. Disclaimer: The HU came with the car so the price listed is what I found searching.

Alpine CDA-9887 w/ iPod and AUX inputs: $245

2x 2-way "MACH" speakers from an early 00's Lincoln LS: $10 at the pick n' pull. Seen here:

1x Image Dynamics IDQ12 D4 V4 w/ enclosure: $289.99

I didn't touch the rear speakers as they handle low-mids and mids fairly well for what they are, and they're just for fill anyhow. The soundstage up front is amazing, and that's taking into account the less-than-optimal mounting of the front door speakers.

Elemental Designs nine.1 subwoofer amp, 2-ohm load. Approximately 900w RMS, and they rate their amplifiers at 12.7v not the usual 14v. Long discontinued, can be found used for ~$150-200.

Less than $750 if bought separately. With an hour or so of fiddling with the INCREDIBLE amount of adjustment the head unit allows, I have what I think may be the most incredible stereo I've ever had in a car. Does it compare to my 1991 Regal GS running two JL Audio 12w6's? Not even close. Which is perfectly fine. I was going for sound quality not low frequency overload and I feel as though I've found the perfect mix.
