Does anyone know if the air bag module needs to be replaced after the bags go off? I have heard some do and some don't. I looked into a place that said they could repair them and send them back to you, but they did not show the MM module as needing repaired. both front air bags went off & the one in the pass seat. Hoping someone has some insight. I have never messed with air bag system and when I replace the bags & have the seat fixed I really don't want them to all blow out as soon as I hook up the battery.
Good luck. I have never figured it out myself.
I have gathered that the air bag module and seat sensors need to be matched to one another.....and the parts are discontinued.

From the Ford service manual:
"When any deployable device (driver-side air bag, passenger-side air bag, side air bag, seat belt pretensioner, etc) or combination of devices are deployed and/or the Restraints Control Module (RCM) has Diagnostic Trouble code (DTC) B1231 (Crash Data Memory Full) in memory the repair of the vehicles air bag system is to include the removal of all deployed devices and the installation of NEW deployable devices, the removal and installation of NEW crash sensors, and removal and installation of a NEW RCM."
So according to Ford, you have to replace. HOWEVER, there are many services available that can erase the memory of the RCM. That being said, fooling around with an airbag module that has already activated air bags can be dangerous. You're better off finding a used module that has not deployed. Or call the dealer and get a new one. It looks like they are still available.
