I was having exhaust work done at a Midas shop. The attendant who was driving my car crashed the car into the front of his work bay. The crash did cause some pretty good damage. Lucky no one got hurt. They said their insurance would pay. I would be assigned an adjuster. Anyone know how this works need advice. I want the car to be fixed correctly.

No matter what is done, the car will always turn up on carfax as having collision damage. Hence, reduced value, I argued this with a collision in which my wife's car was involved. It may as well have a salvage title, it's value goes to zilch. Dig your heels in, make them give you some type of diminished value for the car if they fix it.

Unless anything damaged is replaced with an OEM part, your car will never be the same as it was, having said that, all you can hope for is that between your insurance company, and the body shop, your car is fixed as well as can be. The best thing anyone can do, is make sure the body shop that does the work is well certified shop state of the art facility. Good luck.

Remember the shops insurance company is NOT your friend. That said stand firm. It is 100% their fault and you need it fixed correctly check out the repair shop they want to use see if you would be OK with it if not find another and just tell them it your car and that's where you want it fixed.

You have no one your side at the shop the insurance want it done quick and cheap!

If you have question I know someone here can help.

Keep us posted.

Barring any laws specific to your state.
They, being the shop, have to put you back as though it never happened.
Bring it to the body shop of your choice, tell your body shop what you want and let them deal with the at fault party's adjuster.
They also have to provide you with a rental replacement of a similar vehicle.
As has been mentioned if your State recognizes diminished value you are also entitled to it.
I would notify your insurance company for info only.

I had sort of the same situation happen to me, my Marauder was hit while parked by an inattentive driver. I picked the body shop that I wanted, had the car repaired the way I wanted, it worked out ok. I didn't push the diminished value since the lady (rhymes with bunt or hunt) is on the PTO of my children's school and my wife wouldn't let me take them to small claims court. But I learned from it and won't park within 100 yards of anyone.

I hope that everything works out as well as expected for you.

Oh, man....so sorry to hear that, burt.

FWIW, The Tinknocker in Orleans is supposed to be good.

Although it's a ride for you, I've had personal experience with Falmouth Auto Works on Worcester Ct.

What they ^^^^ said.

Take it to YOUR body shop and get it fixed the way YOU want it done. Get a rental on their insurance companies dime.

Pick the shop, pick the OEM parts, AND demand a full sized /premium rental to match the car they wrecked. The $65 plus per day rental will help you get it all back together and settled more quickly.

Stand firm on everything. Repeat, " Your client WRECKED MY CAR INTO THE WORKBENCH!" IT IS A RARE COLLECTOR CAR.... say it over and over and over and over.
