View Full Version : How tight should addco end links be?

I installed the rear sway bar and used the addco end links. Now when I turned into my driveway I'm hearing a sort of thumping sounds. I truly don't think they are tight enough. A tag was on the end link bolt stating I should be able to turn the spacer or washer after tightening. "DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN" . The paper instructions state to tighten end link until the bushings just bulge slightly. Which is it, lol.
I searched first, but using tapatalk and I don't think it works very well

Check and see if your endlinks are hitting your brake caliper bracket bolts.
Mines does this when I hit the steering lock sometimes, and the scrap marks on the endlinks are the evidence left behind.

I always tighten those pretty good, more than able to turn the spacer. also a little bit of white lithium grease sprayed on them wont hurt either.

I installed the MOOG endlinks and went with the OEM torque spec. (15 ft./lb) Trouble free so far.

Maybe I'll go back and torque them to 15 ft./lb or until they start to bulge. Whichever happens first

I tighten them really good and know without checking that you aren't gonna turn the spacer. Mine have been on for over 20,000 trouble free miles but I did use the energy suspension ones.
Normally the bars interfere with aftermarket diff covers, more so on lowered cars. If you have one, get different end links that are an 1" shorter. I know they make E.S. ones the proper length, but I just trimmed an 1" off the E.S. bolts and spacers that I had already bought.

So you are saying the addco end links aren't that good when compared to energy suspension or moog? I was trying to find out what type of bushings these are.
I know oreilly sale end link bushings. Should I just swap the addco out for the energy suspension bushings?

Well i went out and tightened the end links down to 15ft/lbs. Noise gone and I can really tell a difference in the tightness of the rear end. Wow. Can't wait til my front bar gets in saturday. I can tell this is going to be one of the top mods in my opinion. Should have been one of the first.
I can also see why the talk about oversteer with the rear upgraded with stock front.
