235/50-18 is the size that came as the full size spare in 2003.

Even though it's not the same size as the rear you could still use it to limp it to wherever, I believe they recommended not going more than 50 miles or 50 mph if it's on the rear due to the different sizes and tires rotating at a different rate.

I bought a full size spare wheel/tire from another member and have kept it the stock size. I also have AAA so if I have to swap the front I won't bother calling, if it's the rear than I'd call for a tow.

You could get any 2005+ Mustang 18x8 wheel and put a 235/50-18 on it to run as a spare.

Is the little donut that came with the car to be used less than a distance of fifty miles when used on the rear ?

Most likely.

Look in the owners manual, it talks about it.

If you're referring to the T155/80D18 , Yes, it is labeled as "TEMPORARY USE ONLY".

Just check the tire pressure, it's in the trunk waiting to Step up when it's called upon.

Put the rear size tire on the full wheel. It will protect the clutches in the rear end from wearing out prematurely.

This was my thought as well. Now if you ended up putting that one rear size tire on the front, would the effect only be a heavy pull in steering? Any other negative effects? Could you risk breaking anything in the front end?

There could be some pull, but then it will temporary for the front.

OK, a question about the rears just became pertinent in my life. Given the great trunk space of the Marauder, my wife is interested in me driving my MM on a weekend light-duty camping trip because my car is more comfortable. I still have the stock full-size spare in the trunk (no idea how much air pressure).

I just put on 255/55R18s, which if I'm jabbing my calculator correctly, should have a wheel+tire diameter of 29.04". Stock spare should be 28.61", or 1.5% less. Would a 1.5% difference in wheel+tire size burn up the clutches over 100-200 miles?

(I'm actually looking for an excuse to tempt fate and risk it and pull out the full size spare to fit more camping gear)

There would be an effect that the smaller diameter tire will spin faster than the other. Just hope (and pray) that you do not get a flat. If needs be, get a tire plugging kit and a small lighter powered tire pump.

That's a good call. I may also make a list of tire shops around our destinations and the hours they are open. Thanks for the advice!
