First, sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I've read this forum for a while, but never had a reason to post until now. I'm just wondering if you guys think it is a good price. I'm also wondering what kind of fuel economy Marauders get. I drive mostly highway, but drive about 18k miles per year. How reliable are they in general? We've had three Crown Vics and one Grand Marquis in the past which were very reliable.

I have put 110k trouble free miles on mine, now 159k, probably the best car I have ever had. I also had CV and GM cars which were great. Car gets about 25 on road trips.
My only concern is motor replacement down the road as the 4V motors are much harder to come by than the 2V. The cool factor of these cars far outweighs that though. I would not be afraid of the mileage on that car if it has been maintained. Price seems right on. My opinion, and you know what opinions are worth.

Very dependable cars. My mileage averages around 22 mpg on highway, I have never gotten 25 and I baby mine. My car is all stock. The craigslist ad pictures are poor and I am wondering why there is not a shot of the front or rear of the car. Price seems fair.

For the miles you won't find one cheaper unless you get real lucky. Check for rust. Send vin to royalpita for a carfax report. Try to get more exterior pics and post them here. Rev the motor and listen closely for any noises. Get on it from a stop to check for smooth shifts. If that all checks out its a good/fair deal

Brian aka royalpita doesn't do a carfax report, it's a Ford Oasis report, gives build date, warranty start date (first sold as new), warranty/maintenance plans and warranty repair history.

Oasis reports only go back 10 years I thought. We are in year 12 and 13

The snow tires are not a plus to me. They are mounted on the Marauder wheels, so they are worthless as I wouldn't use those rims in the winter. So that's a set of summer tires, some rims and snow tires for the winter, and having to get rid of the 18 inch snow tires that are on the car now. I also know that Ohio winters are just as bad as they are here when it comes to rust. So the car already has some rust, which should factor into it.
They are reliable cars, just as others have stated. Just check the car out carefully and make the decision that you think is right. I would haggle the owner down based on the tire expense that you would have to deal with right away.

I would look for a Ford dealership nearby the seller and set an appointment for a full inspection report, maybe $75.00 or so
A detailed report will look at tire wear/brake pads air conditioning, front end etc. etc.
Ask the seller to take the car there and get the dealer to email you the report if you are not close by for the appt. to see for yourself.
There is likely things wrong the seller does not know about then you can negotiate.
Unless you are a mechanic and have a hoist I would never spend that kind of money without an inspection.

All as stated above, but being from the north east (snow), with snow tires being his advertising point, you bet it has salt crust under the car. Low price, fair miles.
I'd save and spend more = get more, from a non winter driven car.
UNLESS you will be driving it in the snow, then it won't matter - so just look for rust already needing repair.

You will also need to run 91 or 93 octane..Car is not tuned for 87..it will ping, knock etc until it dies if you run it with low octane. Fuel mileage stock will average 19-21mpg if 65% or more is highwaydriving. There are a lot of discontinued parts for them, but there is a wealth of knowledge and support here to get thru most dilemmas.

^^^ excellent points for a single daily driver to be considered.
I wouldn't make a car this old and rare a DD. There's way better choices out to beat the piss out of for daily abuse, these cars are classics now, atleast imho. They are very reliable just make sure to get rid of the stupid oil guage that doesn't read *****. Just blew my oil pump at 169k and didn't even know til it was too late. It took 7 years of DD and so many miles to finally break.
