I was wondering if there are any pics of someone who "notched" the frame in order to directly swap a complete 03-04 Cobra motor into the Marauder.

IIRC.. someone did it. Basically you cut a notch in the frame then box it in for strength.
Using the Cobra front dress is completely dumb.
And the Cobra alternators are known for being junk no matter who makes them.
And you are more likely to have belt slip with the cobra setup.
Do not do it..

Ok. I hear ya'll loud and clear! I was only asking because I got a lead on a full "drop in" Cobra motor and thought it might be a good deal if it made sense to "drop in". I wasn't comfortable with the idea of "notching" the frame anyway. If I gotta buy all the brackets etc to basically do an Eaton swap with a Cobra block (that I really don't need), then this deal won't make sense.

I was envisioning (ie. day-dreaming, lol) about driving up to Martyo's with the Marauder on a trailer, Cobra motor in the back of the truck! Then, having him swap everything and selling the my old motor (86k and perfect) to someone who might need it while it is closer to everyone on this board than in South Florida to recoup some of my costs. :cloud9: Now it's time to wake up! :P

I have a car coming it at the end of the week for this exact process but we will be swapping the front dress from the Marauder motor over to the Cobra motor and then doing the swap. Of course we will be using Jerry's COT and brackets to make this happen.

That's the plan! I gotta get the truck painted this coming week. The Florida sun has scorched it so bad, I can't wait any longer. :flamer: But, after that, I'll start the swap parts search! Seems like I could do the swap myself from all that I have read. That should make the cost a little easier to swallow AND the pride of the completed project! Zack's Town Car has become the perfect inspiration for me (albeit that was way more than doing just an eaton swap)! Thanks Zack!
