You all can see my post in the "Shop Talk" thread with regards to the repairs and what happened. I got throttle happy, I lost control, I hit a curb and a fence stopped me.
Without further adieu:

Glad that you are ok. The force required to damage the rear end could have damaged the frame as well. Best of luck fixing the car.

The bottom of the wheel slammed into the curb. Snapped the axle clear off. I'll get more pictures tomorrow when I start tearing her apart.

I have my fingers crossed that the frame is ok. It looks alright, although the impact was hard enough to actually push the bushing part way out of the lower control arm where it bolts to the axle.

Such negativity! The photos make it look worse than it is.
If it was yours would you scrap it just because of that? I've already got a rear end waiting to install tomorrow after work, with any luck it'll be driving again by friday.
$70 for a complete rear end, $80 for a new header panel + $100 to have professionally painted, $35 for a new corner light. Figure another $1-200 for a RR door (painted) and whatever materials I need to repair the bumpers. Yes there will be odds and ends but I should have around $500 in it in repairs to get it back to the condition it was before, which was far from perfect but still very nice.
I don't know about you but I would never scrap a car this rare over $500.

That's a really bummer, let's all hope it fixes up alright. I know what that's like, will honestly admit that I have gone through a few of those scenarios myself especially when I was new to the car. I too have been gotten too throttle happy a few times and lost control, fortunately I always managed to stayed on the road and never did it when there was traffic.

"They" can't write it off because insurance isn't involved. I hate dealing with those people. Besides I can repair it myself for 1/3 to 1/2 of my deductible anyways.

Wow sorry about that. Those tires look very old on the rear. Bald O/E tires are to blame for quite a few MM's demise.
Did you hit the brakes on the over steer?
Sorry and hope you can get it fixed.

I believe I did hit the brakes. If I would have just powered through it I probably would have just been able to swing the rear end around 360°.

Bummer, glad you made it out OK. I think you might be a little low on your repair estimate, tho...It doesn't look like you factored in at least 1 new wheel, cornering light, damage to the front fender, grill, almost certainly some brake parts....I'm glad you are going to fix it, but you might want to start preparing yourself for a bit more than $500.00

You're right. I was more looking at essential things to get it driving again. I did figure in a corner light though. The grill actually survived minus a couple tabs that I can repair with jb weld. I will need one wheel but I'll use the spare wheel for now until I get some more cash.

Professionally painted and $100 do not belong in the same sentence.

Last sunday, I was driving at 150 kmh on the highway near Mexico City, 3 lanes on same direction. I was about to pass a 2015 911 turbo, and he wOt it. Obviously I wasnt able to pass him, but when we entered the next turn (right) my rear end lost contact and slipped to the left side at 140 kmh approx. I just decelerate a little, without letting off the whole pedal, and steer a little bit to the left, drifted for a while and regained control.
I taught I was going to lose it.

I agree. My shop has a very good working relationship with a local (non-chain) body shop that's been in the neighborhood over 50 years. They are the ONLY one's I would trust to touch my car body-wise. Their work is second to none.

Also forgot to update! I got the rear end installed at work today. Took around 5 hours. I decided to go with the 3.27 gears for right now, I'll save the 3.55's for a later date. Everything went smoothly. I replaced both axle seals and the pinion seal while I had it apart, completely cleaned the unit and filled with fresh Amsoil 75W-140.
I also replaced the shocks: the bushing was shoved out of the RR one, and they were OE anyways. From the looks of it the hardest hit part was the LR upper watts arm. It had a severe bend in it.
The caliper was ruined, and it needed rear brakes anyways so it got 1 new caliper and fresh ceramic pads/rotors as well. The old parking brake shoes were in great shape so I cleaned up the hardware and reinstalled.
The front wheel has a small chip out of it, however I re-balanced the tire and the rim checked out fine (including road force).
I tossed OE full size spare on the rear just as a test and took her for a drive. The rear end sounds great, it was in AMAZING shape after I got it all cleaned up. Better than mine was. She tracks dead straight, the steering wheel is dead straight, and I have no warning lights. I'm going to swap the 245/55 on the spare wheel tomorrow and then put it on the rack for an alignment. That will be the real test.
