View Full Version : Getting all of the attention

Last Saturday night, Gordon and I went to the Hagerstown cruise in at the Valley Mall shopping center. We arrived fairly early and did some last minute detailing after the 30 min highway drive to get there.

From the picture that I took you can see our blue Firehawk on the left and the BLACK BOMBER on the right. AND these were just a few of the people that Gordon talked to about the Marauder. Wouldn't you know it ... he got ALL the attention that evening. My poor cute F-body got a few looks and some questions, but nothing like Gordon and his Kenny Brown #8.

WhooHoo ... What fun we had showing off our kids. :bounce: :banana2:

Judging by those pics, it looks to me like your car was just parked in the wrong spot to get any of the attention. I mean you had a S/Ced Marauder on one side of your car, and on the other side of it was a nice looking vintage car w/what looks in the pic like either a big blower rising up on top of the engine, or a huge tunnel ram on top of it. So you had these two cars on either side of yours that represented some serious horsepower, and your car sitting there in that spot between those two monsters looked rather plain and mild mannered, and that's why it wouldn't have attracted much attention at all. Atleast not from guys since most of us deep down inside are HP freaks.

So not to be a wise guy or anything, but quite frankly, "cute" isn't going to be the thing that a car needs to look like at a car show or a cruise night to attract all the attention. Radical, rare, or extreme are the cars that will draw the most attention from car enthusiasts, since most enthusiasts are hi-performance minded, and or collector car minded. Therefore the closer to being extreme, rare, or radical a car is, then the more attention it will draw at these types of events. Being "cute" just isn't enough. Sorry. No offence. I'm simply telling you the way that it is. :D

Billy, it is obvious you haven't met Chris! She doesn't need a car to grab attention.

Chris' car is next to be moddified. We are still looking into things like headers, cams, exhausts and gears for starters. We will also be investigating other power addies to the SLP cold air induction system. With the 5.7 engine and LARGER displacement we hope to get some serious HP, but it is her car and the final decision os her's.

Thanks Marty I could not agree more!!

Chris, thanks for the Music it was a nice surprise!!

my post wasn't meant to insult her, nor focus on her appeal since that isn't the primary focus of any car show nor car cruise anyway. I was looking at the pic from a CAR enthusiasts' point of view. I thought that's what this thread was supposed to be about anyway. However, in light of your reply, perhaps it isn't. Don't mind me, it's just my tendency to be brutally honest at times. Sorry Chris. I didn't mean to come across as a bull in a china closet here. I wasn't implying that your car is worthless, nor that it looks bad, but I was just trying to explain to you in my own awkward and clumsy way that just because your CAR didn't get much attention doesn't mean it's a piece of garbage nor that people don't consider it as such. It's just that it was parked inbetween to real heavy hitters. That's all that I meant. I didn't mean to come across abrasive.

Billy alls cool man, alls cool, just think Marty is rubbing you. As I stated earlier her car is next in getting mods. We are reasearching it now on what to do, but it is her decision. Maybe even ghost flames??

Haggis, thanks for being patient w/my lack of subtleness. I just updated my previous post and added to it to further explain my viewpoint. So please read it. Marty might have been jabbing me, but maybe that was needed. I wasn't trying to insult Chris. But perhaps I did.

Well I'm cool with it. If Chris takes it wrong I'll hide her swords until she calms down. Good luck! :D

Also her first post in the Thread is to be taken light hearted.

Okay maybe cute wasn't the best word to describe my awesome 2002 Trans Am Firehawk SLP #700 out of 1500+ to some car enthusiasts, but hey I'm a woman and I look at styling too. To me she is cute, did you notice the license plate? She's got a 5.7 liter engine, 345 HP and 350 TQ. So from the factory she has more displacement than the 4.6 liter stock Marauder.

So Billy if you want to continue the debate, we can meet on the field of honor

There can be only one!!

Oh pretty please don't hurt me Ms. Chrissy w/your big bad sword!!!!! :P I have absolutely no argument w/you about the lack of displacement that both the Marauder has, as well as the Mustang. If it weren't for the great body style of the Marauder, (which BTW I think is much better looking than the Mustang or the Firehawk) the tiny 4.6L engine would've prevented me from buying the Black Beauty in the first place. And that's why I've Supercharged my Marauder also. (Do you still want to meet, but on the dragstrip????).

Little do you probably know that I've been the biggest critic on this board of the lack of displacement that the Marauder has. When I first joined this board, I had already purchased my Marauder, and I got into a few arguments on here because some people weren't used to hearing Marauder owners being so quick to make mention of it's weak points like I am. So you can't tell me anything about what the Marauder lacks that I haven't already noticed, as well as admitted, and commented on somewhere on this board. So I'm waaaay ahead of you. I'm not one of those people who are in denial about what their car lacks, simply because they're one of those who have purchased such a car. The Marauder is a really nice car, it looks better than 90% of the newer cars available in any price range no matter what the make, and is certainly better looking than ANY other car in it's price range. And that's why I bought it. Furthermore, it DOES have a V8 engine, and is rear wheel drive as is your car.

However it IS under powered a bit from the factory, especially due to it's monsterous weight of 4200 LBS. Read my signature to get a better idea of what I think of this car. So let me know IF and when you're ready for some competition at the tree. :D

As far as a duel, sorry, that takes skill, I'm sure, but I'd rather go target shooting w/my big cannon (see below)........
