Hey guys i currently have a 275/40/18 tire on my rear saleen mustang wheels which are an 18x10 im about to purchase some Nitto Drag Radials along with my 3000 stall converter and i was wondering which tire size would be best 285/40/18 or the 305/45/18 any suggestions i was told it would be best to get a wider tire but then i dont want to get an 305 tire and its poking out and they are entirely too wide?

The 305 would probably be the upper limit for a 10" wide rim.

Most manufacturers websites have the recommended wheel widths for each tire size.

I have the 305-45-18 Nitto 555 DRs on widened oem wheels and have dragged them till they are bald. no real issues on sticking out. look right from the side.
took about five years to get them bald. ran 11.92 on them.

I have tried several and have had the best success with the Mickey Thompson Street R. Part #3580 Size P305/45R18
With stock rims widened to 9.5" it may rub on the shocks.

No, used them mostly at the track. Some street use. Likely 10k miles top on them to hit the wear strips.

No, threw them away. Thinking about the MTs that Sailsman mentioned.
