This is one to sticky.

I got the idea today that we invite the winners of eBay Marauder auctions to visit MM.com.

This will help our community grow. It might also give us more leverage when we are talking to various mfgrs, even Ford, perhaps. Finally, by increasing our base of enthusiastic users we can only help the value and image of our vehicles climb.

This is a sample email that I actually sent todya...
Hello,

I see that you just bought a Mercury Marauder on eBay. Congratulations. I also own a Marauder and just love the thing.

Allow me to invite you to the ultimate web site for Marauder owners. It is mercurymarauder.com. It is a great bunch of guys who own Marauders and who just love their cars and helping each other out. It also has a great bbs which contains a TON of useful Marauder info.

If you decide to drop by, please, email me with your user name.

Best,

Dan

How I envision this working is that those of us who want to participate will choose an auction that ended and note the auction #. From there you should come here and post the auction number and state that you have it covered. By doing it this way we can avoid spamming them with more than one email. Never go outside of the day you are in and we can always stay current.

I did one today. It was for item #2476430241.

Best,

Dan

I would hesitate to do that, although I think it is a great idea. My reasoning being, E-Bay would consider that as "spam" or unsolicited e-mail. They frown on that stuff. Just my .02 :shake:

DANNNNNNN! You called your Marauder a "thing"-Not, "her", "she" or some other term of endearment?!?!?

My inner child weeps for you.... :(

Hey Dan,

Funny, I was watching that auction and sent the winner an Ebay contact touting this site.

Mercman has a good point.

This guy might think it's a cult (which would be ok) or it's a scam.

one thing it's Mercurymarauder.NET not .com

Good idea posting to a thread so as not to send duplicate Emails.

Please don't. It's a good idea, but it's regarded as spam, regardless of intent. It ends up creating issues for me, as people who don't want the mail end up thinking I'm the one responsible.

Word of the mouth seems to be the best answer!!!!!!

If everyone on this site. Went back to the dealers thay bought these cars at. And gave them Ricks cards to give or send to every marauder owner that thay sold a car to. Then every marauder in the country would know about us .

Logan,

In my enthusiasm I did not think about the negative push back that it might have on you.

Sorry about that. :) Somehow I know that you understand.
Best,

Dan

Absolutely. No harm, no foul Dan. I can't fault enthusiasm, I appreciate the effort.

Having your dealers hand out or include cards with purchases is great if you can get them to do it.

Logan,

I guess I thought Ebay would bug me not you. Sorry for the thoughtlessness. Guess you've been down this road before.

In any case the potential new owner of the blue one in this auction wrote back with a word of thanks for the info & said he'd check out the site.
