The Certificate info from Ford says 3 MM's were built with "Standard Audio".
Anyone know what constitutes "Standard Audio" over the Audiofile system most cars came with?

And here I thought the stock system was quite standard! There's worse?

My owners manual, 2nd Printing dated September 2002 only shows the Audiophile AM/FM Stereo, Cassette, and Single CD Changer beginning on page 19. The optional 6-CD Changer (located in the trunk) is shown as a separate component.
Maybe someone with a 300a has the original 1st printing of the owner's manual that might give an indication of another available "Standard" system before it was halted.

non Audiophile, as in a Crown Victoria LX CD/cassette radio.
Or perhaps not even a cassette. Here is a standard '03 Mustang radio http://www.mustangspecs.com/carpics/03int7.jpg
While the Audiophile system was standard, it must have been possible to downgrade (assuming the FPG docs are correct).

I was unaware that the MM could be ordered any other way than with the Audioflie system, with the 6 CD changer being the only option. I can only imagine perhaps a PP car being built before the Audiofile radios were delivered to assembly.
Good question for Steve Babcock if he shows in Las Vegas.

I seen this post and went to my car to look at my manual, since i am a 300a and from what i see is on page 19 it shows a AUDIOPHILE AM/FM STERO/CASSETTE SINGLE CD, witch has AUDIOPHILE in script written on cassette door. Now on page 20 is the same radio without AUDIOPHILE written on cassette door, and listed as the PREMIUM AM/FM STEREO/CASSETTE/SINGLE CD. So other than the word AUDIOPIHLE they are the exact same radio.

Since the stats add up to only one car equipped this way, could be an error, or one car not documented with Audiophile, so presumed built without it, who knows....
where is this one car owner and his Marti report! :shake: ;)
No Marti report, but here are the documents. I don't believe there are any errors beyond our current ability to understand what they're stating.

Don't know.
My DTR was not equipped with a cd changer and has this turd of a radio, no heated seats and no moonroof.
I just may have the turdiest of turds.

So, not Audiophile, no 6 disc changer, DTR - that is not listed in kirk's stats.
I just feel their is room for disconnect from documentation to what actually rolled off the line.
Just like previous decades with Ford.
I myself don't care, but it makes for conversation ;)

The total for 2003 radio's adds up o 7837, not 7838. DBP with or w/o radio's don't add up to 328, add to 327, hence the DBP saga.
They are calling the radio the "Audiophile System" which makes me wonder if the non-Audiophile radio may not have come with a trunk mounted AMP, but with one built into the head unit.

I think that the only way to really tell if you have the Audiophile system is to check for the factory sub. The radio itself is not marked Audiophile.
My guess is that the standard system might actually be better. Same door and main deck speakers without the rattle maker...I mean subwoofer....no maybe I did mean rattle maker. It sure didn't add any lows.

On the Non Audiophile radio the button only has RDS on it, not RDS and DSP like the Audiophile. The RDS only was the standard upgrade for all the MGM/CV LXs.
And the 327 vs 328 DBP built issue was covered on here years ago. It was never definatively answered but according to a factory worker who was on here years ago his thoughts were that when body shells are made and painted the paint shop always keeps a bunch of spares in a rack to replace anything that gets damaged or fails quality control on the line. DBP was a Marauder specific and only a 2003 Marauder model year specific color (it didn't become a standard color until 2005). The paint shop only painted 328 bodies and no extras because it was not a standard color used on other MGM/CV (like the red, black and silver colors). Since the car never left the factory the factory records only show 327. FPG used the production figures from Ford corporate and not the "as built" records. Ford "built" 328 DBP cars, one never left the factory.

all manufacturers documentions and part number listings are far from an absolute.
I like the above theory, though...lets find body shell #328!

Would it be fair to say rather than Ford built 328 DBP Marauders they painted 328 shells and actually built to completion 327 cars. For all we know there is a painted DBP shell in a box car on a deserted rail track somewhere in Canada waiting to be mated to a drive line :)
So those of you out there without a DSP button post up there are 3 of you.

I'm not sure I can buy all of this, but it did get me interested enough to do some digging.
There is some evidence to backup the radio statement, but not very much.
My radio looks exactly like the one in post #11. It has the DSP, but no "Autophile" on the cassette door.
The "2003 Marauder/quick reference guide" I got in the owners manual package shows 2 radio pictures, both with RDS only and no "Audiophile".
These 2 examples would make me think you are wrong, but on page 19 of the owners manual shows a drawing of the DSP head with the "Audiophile", and page 20 shows a drawing of the RSP only without the "Audiophile".
This last example makes me think you're on to something.
I don't believe that the FPG numbers include some painted body (or bodies) sitting in a warehouse somewhere. I believe there was either;
an accounting screw up somewhere that didn't get caught, or
there actually was one blue built without an audio system due to someone's specific request.
I don't really find either one of these hard to believe, and actually think #2, the build, is more believable.

No offense to Ford and their "standard radios" but... after having my radio replaced three times while under warrantee, I opted for the Pioneer AVIC 130 system. Now I have satellite radio, DVD movies, GPS, Am/FM, control over the sub-woofer, Line equalizer, and other goodies. Most important, it hasn't failed in four years, unlike the Ford unit.

I personally would have checked off the radio delete option if it were available as I rarely listen to the radio in the car. I'd have settle for a cubby for glasses, especially in the '04.

And this is why it may be impossible to find those 3 cars without VINs from Ford. Maybe we should ask them?

Wouldn't a lack of Audiophile just mean no Trunk sub and amp.
I see plenty of crown vic LX's with the same radio head unit but without a sub.

I went to Ford and got us an answer to this. They provided the document below that indicates the standard audio is 24 Watts, while the Audiophile system is 100 Watts with premium speakers & subwoofer, DSP, RDS, and scan.

This means there absolutely are 3 one of a kind Marauders out there (or at least were) (DTR, SB, black) with standard audio.
I also still believe there was one blue built without audio.
OK, who has these 4 cars?

The '03 MM FPG sheet shows that 328 Blue MMs were built; but the audio totals add up to 327. So you may be right

Did they have an answer as to why 3 cars were built with only standard? Seems unlikely someone would order it that way since if memory serves the Audiophile system was standard and the only radio option was the 6 CD changer in the trunk.
