03 MM, 29k and stock. Has happened three times since so far, purchased last april. It has only occured when backing out of a parking space with the wheel cut to back out. Starts right back up and everything is normal. Any ideas? Thanks!

Check the wiring harness behind the drivers side cam cover for chafing.

IAC valve could be the culprit.......

You should get an increase in RPM's when you turn the wheel!! If no RPM increase there will likely be stalling??

Replace IAC valve and see what happens!!

Replace or clean it.

There's a switch in the P/S pressure line that is supposed to tell the PCM to increase RPM when the steering wheel is turned. It's right in front of the AC compressor.

I thought it was near the oil filter?

Replace or clean it.

+2

The autozone/advance auto crap does not work right so I had to clean mine instead of replace. That was about 30,000 miles ago and I see no need to replace it any time soon. Be careful with the gasket.

Thanks for all the replies. Come to think of it I had an IAC go bad on a 96 4.6 Tbird, and it had similar symptoms.

I thought it was near the oil filter? You're thinking of the EVO for the speed-sensitive steering.
