Well, it had to happen. It had to happen to me while I was in the MM and not the PT. I was sitting at a light on Gratiot south of 696 and a young girl bump my MM in the rear. I can't believe she didn't see my car with all the brakelights I have (my rearview mirrors light up when the brake is applied). I have five brake lights on my car and she didn't see me. My facia has a bad rub and a chip out of it. The girl that hit me is only 16 and just got her license this week (a week too soon). She was really apologetic. She was so nervous and kept asking what was going to happen. I told her that she will get a ticket. Her eyes really got big when I pulled out my phone and called the police. I am glad that no one got hurt. My biggest concern now is do I have to buy new SS Inserts for the bumper or can they be reused? At least my rear bumper will be nice and shiny now. This was a club that I did not want to join. S**T HAPPENS!!

Bigslim,

Bummer about the rear facia.

Been there, done that, just got back. If the facia has to be replaced, the inserts are a goner. My assaulter's insurance paid for replacements no questions asked. You'll have to wait some for paint cure to put them back on though.

The good news is that insurance will fix it good as new, probably even better. Its just the inconvience of it all that really had me all bunched up.

I hope the repairs go well for you.

- JD

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it has to be replaced. I will see Monday.

Welcome to the club, although this is not a club you want to join :(

Out of curiosity, what kind of car was she driving? Not another Honda I hope!

Well let me see??

how many trips to the body shop for me and my Marauder?????

3 All minor ones and yes folks NO honda's

My first rear bumper hit (bump) cost the Lady's insurance co. about $1900.

Pulled the left exhaust tip down anbout 1". Had to replace the muffler do to broken welds.

The other two were front end hits only about $700. or so together.

The body shop :) when I pull up:):):)

Next trip to the Body Shop is for a full warranty re-paint:) on the 24th of the month.

Best of luck with your trip to the body shop.

She was driving a Saturn. It was her first car. Probably will get grounded now and won't be able to drive it. Hey Woaface, is she related to you? (just kidding)

Sorry to hear the bad news Darryl, thankfully everyone is ok. By the way, what were you doing stopped at a red light, this is Detroit after all! Must be an eastside thing.

Sorry to hear about your incident. As I recall from my SS Insert installation paper, the letters cannot be repositioned or removed without seriously damaging or warping the letters. That new 3M adhesive is there to stay.

Rear enders are a very frequent occurrence in this area. Seems people are just not paying attention. Today, I saw a guy working on a newspaper crossword puzzle in stop-and-go traffic. He had the paper spread out over the steering wheel. :nono:

Somehow I knew there would be a "gaggle" in that Saturn. Did they have enough chewing gum to go around?????

Slim, i'm glad to hear that it was only a Saturn. Afterall, how much damage can a tin car with plastic(oops, I mean "dent-resistent") panels do anyway? Was she cute at least?

Slim - Sorry to hear about your incident. You may be better off replacing than repairing the rear facia. Her insurance compny will pay 100% of the damage.
