They call me Skides.

First the back story.
3 or 4 years ago I replaced the rear passenger axle seal on the rear housing tube. The axle looked like it should be replaced but since I was struggling to keep my narsacistic hypocrite whoring wife happy I did not have the cash to do so. Then there was the accident. As the car spun off the road the rear passenger rim was bent in towards the center of the car.

Fast forward, I am now divorced, a single parent ( that is hard For a man to do in California) but still unemployed and pennyless thanks to the NHWW. the axle is making the dreaded grinding sound from the passenger side. It has been suggested the axle housing might be bent. It was fine before the accident but now is throwing axle lubricant all over the rim. I have no spare cash but I do have a spare Timkin bearing. So here is my plan.

Install, the new bearing just to hold off catastrophe. Ignore the bad axle ....again. Then when I get some money flowing I will pickup a used axle housing and completely rebuild it using the original gears (or 383 or 410) new axles etc etc.

Insight and advice would be much appreciated.

I would do a jy axle, but save the gears till you have more money. A bearing wouldn't do anything to fix a bent housing.

Good point, and I was thinking the same think, JY axle and then when the time comes rebuild that with The MM gears.

I'll have two complete axle housings for sale in a couple months, one with a Ford Racing limited slip and 3.55 ratio. Won't help you today, but if your time frame allows . . .
