What is the normal temperature for the transmission with a extra cooler. The reason i ask is because my trans gauge shows 190 and i think thats to high if you have a extra trans cooler. What do you guys think ?The weather was 68* when it got up to 190*
Your trans temp sensor was installed in the line pressure service port of the transmission
(Which is silly and gives false readings)
It was installed there by whomever simply based on convenience
It needs to be in the pan for accurate readings

Ideal trans temp is 170* to a max of 180*

Thanks guys. I will have to get this checked out.
If you have a mechanical problem (which I suspect you do) it will raise temps
Why don't you make a post of what is going on so others can provide some input

Factory trans temps run exactly the same as engine temps(its in the tank of the radiator), in my drag car I run a huge aftermarket cooler with a mounted fan, if I had the trans any lower than 165-170 we got slippage, 180 or so was perfect. We did not have issues with heat till after 220... remember, this is a 2500lb car going 1320 and thats it. Not a 4700 Sherman Tank rolling down the highway.
Really Chris????
In the tank of the radiator????

My second cooler is installed in-line after the factory trans cooler and mounted in front of the radiator. Around 70 degrees I normally see 155-165 degrees and in a mix of stop-n-go traffic with some highway sprints.
