After reading most of everyone's posts, I have to say WTF are you folks thinking? Common words I see used to describe what you want to do with your new $35K car are " gut, rip out, remove" I mean okay, yes it needs more grunt, and everyone will have some ergonomic issues to tend with, but I just don't know why people want to do things that are bad for the car. Stop and research what you want to do, figure out what other things will be affected by your changes. And please, please don't turn OUR beast into some goddy "pimp-mobile"

The concept was simple and functional. Not Goddy and in your face.

Like I said, just my .02
Okay flame away.

No flame, but keep in mind that each car belongs to the person who bought it. It is their call in the end.
Right now, I'm Ok with mine as is. Except for the valve caps:D :D :D !!!

Gaudy maybe...?

I don't think anyone's "gutting" the MM, except SHM, and I don't think anyone here has gone with his package yet. Everything done so far to most MM's have been, here-say, "bolt-ons." Most mods only raise the motor to it's true, EFFECIENT potential. I think everyone is expirencing better gas mileage with the Reinheart chip, that is if they're staying out of it... I'll admit when I first got my car, I thought about taking some of the sound insulation out for weight saving. When I saw what was our sound insulation, and how much it now weighs compared to my old Lincolns, I passed on the thought and left it in. Yes the car is a perfect balance of performance and funtionality, but there's nothing wrong with a little more umph! :D

just kidding...

I see most of the comments here meant as advice, where to get the best price, what mod may break a warranty, what won't, and so on. I don't believe anyone has really torn into their MMs, but, there is a lot of day dreaming while we wait for spring. We're all still learning our new toys, and just venting frustration, or, sharing successes. Either way, to each his own prevails.

Thanks for your input, Looking, and welcome aboard.

Okay, yes everyone is different. And lots of the posts I was refering to are most likely just thoughts being thrown around. It's just that so many of them make me physicaly cringe. I dunno, I am 32 yr old. this is my first new car. It has taken me a lot of work to get to where I can afford to buy a $35K car. I suppose some are better off than I and the money isn't an issue.
The MM has some problems, some factory issues, and I would tell the design team the same "WTF were you..." on a few issues, but it is the only thing like it on the road. And I am happy I bought it. I even cleaned out the garage for it. The Taurus never got such treatment.

Okay thats got to be at least .05

I had a long diatribe all written, then when I went to post it, it said I wasn't logged in...and I know I was...now it's gone...this problem was the subject of another thread...Logan?

Anyhow, I'm not as fired up as I was, so I'll just second SergntMac's comment, and add that if you want to leave yours bone-stock, fine; it's a great car...but if I wanted to be a sheep, I'd have bought a Camry...

"Okay thats got to be at least .05"--Looking97233.

Looking, as for your .05 cents, I've spent a buck or two here myself, you've probably seen that in the threads. Asking and answering legit thoughts is what's we try to do here, but sometimes the legitimacy gets lost in translation. A question is lost to insult, and jokes usually get lost altogether.

The MM inspires passion in us all, drive one for any length of time longer than "test" without your imagination waking up, and your soul is dead. Your heart and mind will soon come to wander and wallow with lusty "if I got this much, what else could I have?" dreams, and you'll probably come to post them here, while you collect loose change in a jar on your dresser. By the time you have that change in hand, you'll know what changes you want to make. None of us seem better off than others, rule of thumb seems to be, that if you can afford the initial purchase, you will someday come to afford the tinkering.

You're a new owner, Looking, and you're wondering why anyone in there right mind would want to molest this babe. Just let her hike her skirt a tad, wink at you once or twice, and you'll be doing some tearing yourself, I'm sure.

Can anyone break a sawbuck?

looking97233: Its OK! Really! We are just having fun . So far I have enjoyed reading the posts. My wife thought I was nuts when I came home with a demo MM one Saturday afternoon. Poor girl drives a SUV so whats she know? (love her anyway) (haha) Never had this much fun with car. Love to pull into parking lots and have people stare at it?? Now as far as the web site goes I also have never posted to the web before. Heck I am really thinking about driving 788 miles one way to meet fellow MM people in Chicago. I not nuts, just work, drive hard, play harder.

You LOVE your Marauder? How? Don't you know Marauder is the slowest Muscle car ever made! Name any other "MUSCLE" car unable to chrip the tires let alone SMOKE THE WHEELWELLS! Buddy I've owned my MM since early August, have 6000 miles on it, and it ain't getting one bit faster! Hell, neighbor just yesterday beat me with HER 4.3, V-6, Camero! Don't ever try to race a 94-96 Impala SS, you will lose BIG TIME! 3 guys I work with all own SS's, & I made mistake racing one! That's the SS that has more than 30HP less than our MM!!!

Obelcz,
You live about 45 minutes from me. I'll come to your house (maybe I can get Big Dog Jim) to see what's up with your Marauder. Seriously.

It's probably something minor.

I'm not calling you out here, just offering a hand, that's all.

Nice...

Obelcz,

The Marauder is NOT the slowest Muscle Car eer produced. It'll run a solid 14.8, if not a 14.77 bone stock. I know of MANY older Muscle cars that were in 15's off the floor. As for chirping the tires, try MANUALLY shifting the car, and it will. Then again, don't... You'll break something... JUST GO TAKE THE DAMN CAR BACK AND GET YOURSELF A SABLE!

I agree with him about doing all those silly modifications. I was thinking about getting a little more "grunt" out of my stock motor. It occured to me that those really fast funny cars burn nitromethane and get mad HP.

For $15/gallon Nitromethane has got to be the cheapest possible mod for our motors! :)

YEAH BABY! ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!

in responce to the first post:
most of the mods i've seen talked about are performance related.
Other then the logos has anyone done anything to the exterior of thier car? I think the board's percentage of functional useful mods is extremely high. (unlike the junk we where talking about yestarday..fart pipe, stickers, leds, etc..:) ) so no gaudy pimp-mobiles here.....yet.

about flames: I saw a c3 vette that was black with dark purple flame...so dark you could barley see them...now that was sweet and i think would look pretty good.

Be careful with the Nitromethane! The bottom end of our motors are just not made for much more than it currently has.
There's a good article in 5.0 Ford&Mustang magazine I read at a friends the other day. Says the Rod bolts, rods, rod caps, and even the pistons are just barely strong enough. The 2003 SVT Cobra motor (supercharged) uses aftermarket forged rods and pistons.
