Has anybody mounted a trailer hitch and towed anything?
I used to think it was sacrelidgous to do such a thing.
I am considering a ultra lite camper in the #2000 range.

The owners manual should have specs for the tow ratings.

I think they spec 1,500 lbs, which is not a tow rating but a marketing ploy to get you to buy a truck or SUV. These cars can safely tow more than 4,000 lbs as attested to by the class III hitches sold for them.

The older panthers were rated at more than 4,000 lbs towing capacity, don't recall the exact number.

No problem, I do it. Be sure to get a real class III hitch with 2" receiver, not the silly Honda-sized model.

One consideration is a lot of weight on the rear axle of the car (trailer tongue weight, dead bodies in the trunk) doesn't seem to help axle shaft and bearing longevity, a notorious weak link in this car. If you eventually run into axle/bearing issues I would suggest considering Dutchman Axles housing ends with pressed-on tapered roller bearings as a permanent solution.

I have hitches on my F150 and F350, have a 2700# trailer and load the Marauder on it and move it...... what's the question specifically?
