I am having a rough idle at park and my exhaust is sputtering. I just changed the plugs a week ago to see if that would solve the problem but its still the same. I noticed the other day that when i turn on the a/c or heater the idle is nice and smooth and the exhaust stops sputtering. does anyone have an idea on what could be wrong. https://vimeo.com/139074706
Here is a video of what I'm talking about. Any help would be appreciated.

Clean the IAC and MAF.

Is the idle lower than normal with the ac off?

It stays normal with the A/C off but the rpms bounce around a little

I'd say you have a misfire, pull the plugs and look for the darkest one not burning the fuel. Might be cracked plug or coil

If you have a infrared heat gun, point it at each header tube and find the one that's coldest. That will be the cylinder that's missfireing

You can buy those infrared guns online cheap. They are a all around fun toy too

Clean the IAC and MAF.

+1 on cleaning your IAC and MAF. I just did it today before I read this thread. Changed my plugs a week or two ago, and even though my MM runs better, and smoother, there was still a lil hiccup. Now it feels even better than I expected! Hope it helps your problem.

If turning off or on the A/C and or heater affects your idle quality I would suspect a vacuum leak.

I will check for vacuum leaks and clean the IAC and MAF. I hope that fixes my problem. Thanks.

Is there any special procedure to clean the IAC? Mine seems a bit slow to settle back to idle when moving the throttle idling around the parking lot and seems to surge a bit after releasing the throttle.

Is a new gasket required?

No special procedure, once you remove it you spray the internal rod/plunger with brake cleaner to get all the carbon out , and off the rod , this may , or may not work, if the iac is bad cleaning it gives you a clean paper weight , should be able to reuse the original gasket.

^This^ The do in fact go bad. However, I would replace the gasket. Also, don't crank it down. They've been known to leak if over tightened. Snug is good.

At $90 from Tasca Parts I don't think I'll replace it without more proof. I'll clean it and see if it has an effect. If cleaning doesn't help, I'm not sure how I would confirm it without a $90 roll of the dice.

Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if the TPS could cause these symptoms as well.

As in the last post, check your PVC hose. Mine collapsed causing problems like this.
