I believe an '04 will work too.

You do realize that CV's and GM's were made before 2003 / 2004 and after?

Just wondering, is the Marauder 4R70W different than the trans used on automatic 2003/2004 Mach 1s?

so 03-04 crown vic trans will work right.

the tail shaft length is different.

The MM trans actually has a 2002 engineering number (trivia). The actual interchange is 2001, 2002, 2003 CV Police Inerceptor. It has the longer tail shaft. The 2001, 2002 may have a speedometer sensor in the tail housing hole, but just take it out and use the plug from 2003. Also, a 2002,2003 Lincoln Town Car trans will work, same longer tailshaft. The internals are basically the same except minor changes to the spring tension on the shift valves or accumulators. Just do the J-Mod to it and you won't feel the difference. I have used the CVPI trans in 2 Marauders without any problems.

2004 will NOT work in a 2003 and vice versa. There was an internal change on the number of lugs on the output shell which tells the PCM how fast the output shell is spinning. 32 vs 16. It will send the wrong RPM to the PCM and affect shift timing.
