View Full Version : Wanted To Buy ARP Watts Link Stud
I've started doing heavier-duty stuff with my car, so have use for one of the ARP Watts Link Studs that ADTR had made a few years ago.
There's probably never going to be another batch run, so if you have one on the shelf or are selling your car with one installed, consider swapping it out and selling the used, good condition one to me.
ADTR sold them at $150/ea. I'll pay that for a new one and most of that for a good used one without obvious damage (no heavy corrosion and passes the ring test).

So you are using the Metco watts link?
Nope, using the stock link. I actually want the link to bend rather than shear off the stud if I hit something that hard. I want the stud because I'm right at the edge of the factory towing limit on the car and it's the weak link in a trailer whip scenario.

The stock Watt's link with rubber bushings does the tail wag. Really unsatisfactory if you care about handling.
I know that, but it also includes big bushings that prevent shock loading the watts link stud if you bump a curb...

Are you going to optimize the suspension for driving or wrecking?
If you're concerned about the factory tow rating it is radically under-rated. The previous generation was rated at about 4,000 lbs, and the trailer hitches are typically spec'd at 3,500 lbs load carrying, and higher with weight distribution bars. The axle shaft bearings, however, aren't that long lived under the best of circumstances. I doubt towing helps. I tow about 2,000 lbs routinely and certainly don't have issues with the stock stud and Metco Watt's link.
