View Full Version : For Sale Headlight External Relay Harness!
GoldPanther
09-21-2015, 10:49 AM
This is a hand and custom made harness for marauder (works on 03-04 MGM too) built with new and quality parts except for experienced OEM Ford connectors.
This harness is a complete Plug And Play kit, it will connect directly to your headlight housing internal harness, there will be absolutely no need to remove the headlights and what's best there's no need to modify the rear of the housing, no need to drill holes anywhere.
To those that don't know what it does here's a quick explanation. Our LCM has an internal tiny 10 amp relay that powers both low beams, the wiring used by Ford is a 18 gauge wire, the voltage sent to the bulbs is looped many times and from the LCM to the bulbs, there's only like 11 volts at the bulbs with the car running. This is why the LCM is very vulnerable to fail even when you're using stock bulbs.
By installing an external harness you will remove the stress out of the LCM prolonging its life, at the same time the voltage is sent to the bulbs directly from the batter by the external relays making the headlights brighter.
Parts used,
Two genuine Bosch 40 amp relays with built in diode to maximize protection on the OEM harness and LCM.
14 gauge wires all around
OEM connector with new crimped pins
two 30A fuses
weather proof terminal ring ends
Black loom wrapped with high temp electrical tape
cap cover for the unused left driver side's connector.
all sealed.

Will you be making any more of these? I would like to be next in the line. This would solve an electrical problem I have had with my Marauder wiring. The harness looks to be very well made.

My 300 a Marauder has had numerous electrical issues since I bought it with 110 thousand miles on it. It now has 184000 miles. There are several places in the car where the harness has been bypassed with an individual wire run from point to point. My problem with regard to the headlights is mainly voltage drop. I can see approximately half a volt or more drop through the headlight harness at the point where the headlight would connect.
While I have not replaced the LCM when it started becoming intermittent, I did find a unit on ebay that can bypass or piggyback on to the LCM, so that is what I did put in.
The car came to me with what looks like a lot of road salt corrosion. I have always suspected that some of this has attacked the electrical connectors under the hood. I have had intermittent shorts on some of the wiring that has led to intensive investigation by several mechanics before it was solved. I need to keep this car as my daily driver as I am not working at the moment and don't have a lot of money to put into it. This harness seems like a simple solution to any risk of the headlights going out on a dark country road one night.

Oh thank you sir I will need some of this.
-------------------
Attention everyone who is interested in the harness.
I am currently working in some 9007 bulb type harness for crown vics. As soon as I am done with orders I will resume making some marauder's, that means possibly in about two weeks from now maybe three since I need to buy enough material to serve everyone.
I'd be interested as well if more were made.
Got it, first in order!
I will take one. E mail sent.

FYI, my harness is powered via the original harness as to make this PnP, If your LCM is having the "intermittent issue" then is more than likely to shut down the harness randomly since it's already giving you failure symptoms. The external harness will remove the stress out of the LCM but that's not a warrant that your LCM will stop failing. I recommend you to fix/upgrade your LCM with @fastblackmerc.
You could install the external harness and by pass the LCM by directly sending power with a wire from the light switch directly to the harness input. This I do not recommend.

Thank you, I understand about the way your harness is controlled from the original LCM. In the case of both my cars, the LCM's are new or reman. :)
Interesting that you are also doing some for the Crown Vic - that is my other (weekends) ride. I'd like one of those harnesses too. That one has a trunk mounted Optima battery and it really can't afford any additional voltage drops. ;)
Do I need to send you a separate pm to get a place in line? I haven't posted much on this board so I don't really know the customs. I'm sorry if my earlier posts weren't specific that I wanted to buy whenever you became ready to sell. So, one for the Marauder and one for the CV please.

First two harnesses are ready, will contact you tomorrow.
*warranty*
There is no rocket science making this harness, the key is selecting the best materials/ or components.
I have attached pictures of the material used and others so you have an idea how its made. I will test every harness before shipping to make sure is working properly, this harness will never fail if it's properly installed or operated.
Due to my very very little profit I will only give 7 days of warranty starting the same day when is delivered. I wish I could give you life time warranty because I am confident that this harness is made with love as if it was made for me but I don't have the funds or resources lol.
If for whatever reason it fails in the future it will be only two culprits, a blown fuse or a dead relay. These are standard relays so you can find one on any auto parts and the best thing is that you can easily replaced it.
Thank you guys!

He I can make it red, blue, yellow or any other color for a little bit extra (colored looms are more expensive at auto parts). Just keep in mind that they fade after a while. That's why black is the best to go imo.

Hey whitey, to be honest I had no intentions to sell more than one harness I was just trying to get rid of a harness that I couldn't sell on FB. But it seems that many other people became interested. So far I've sold one here I don't know if for that I should become a hobby vendor or not. I've been waiting to be contacted by someone. I hope not to rustle any Jimmies lol.

Hello,
I have the last harness available and ready to shipped.
This will be last one since I will now start making 9007 type. It may take me another month or two to start making these Marauder ones, keep in mind that dark sad and cold days are up now lol.
I lost contact with the last in the list so any one posting here takes it!
Thank you!
