Does anyone here have any idea if & when Ford will bring back the Marauder? I was at Triology's open house last summer and Steve Babcock was vey coy when I asked him about it. Just curious.

Prob'ly cause he's tired of the question. Last year at Marauderville 1 he said it might be back with the release of the new Panther platform in 2007, I believe.
But, don't hold your breath. If it were up to Steve; I'm sure it would come back. It'll be back if the accountants OK it.
What we need is some guidance. Are letters needed? If so, to whom?
I am sure that us fanatics will do whateve is needed to keep this baby going as soon as someone tells us what the best route it.
Best,
Dan

Folks,
I am sorry to say there is nothing planned for the return for the Marauder that we can determine from Ford. Usually there are rumors or some indications that some activity is going on for a specific vehicle, and as yet, when the last Marauder rolls off the line in June, that is it! So, if you want one, you better get it soon!
All of Mercury efforts are being placed on three new models that are being introduced in the next two years. They are great looking cars, but nothing that is a big rear wheel drive 4 door sedan.
Elena Ford wants a different image for Mercury in the future and she is in the driver seat.
Thanks!

I think they will bring the Marauder name back! But thats all, in name. Look what they did to the Cougar! :puke:

Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep and please do not let the all wheeled drive version of the new Montego be badged a Marauder, esp if it has a V6.
Amen

Sad but true!!!! Those that know how to drive, RWD. Those that need help, FWD. Those that need all the help, AWD. I dont need a computer to help me drive.

And I bet that she drives a mini van. :)

Hey, it took 30 years for Pontiac to bring back the GTO, so...I like being 17:)

I beg to differ. Pontiac brought back a car that they CALLED a GTO. Ain't nothin' like the beautiful old Goats of yesteryear.

Pontiac didn't bring BACK anything.
They simply went shopping in Australia, saw a vehicle they liked,
and slapped a Pontiac nose and ass on it.
Then as they went into production, GM wouldn't pay for the 18" wheels,
so they downsized to 17" wheels and claimed the car rides better on 17" wheels.
GM never builds anything the way they promise it at a car show.
At least the Marauder is 98% of what FORD promised us.

You mean a Ricer a$$, don't you!!
James I have to tell you I was exicited when I first heard that Pontiac said they were bring back the GTO. Ater seeing it I was highly disappointed. :depress: :mad2: :puke: These are my feelings about the so called gto, you don't have to agree.
I even saw one in person at a Cruise night and I thought it was an Accura until I saw GTO and Pontiac symbol on it. What a major let down, leave it to GM to ruin a good old American Muscle Car. I even seen pics of the new Chevelle it is also from Australia and looks to be the same platform. :shot: :puke: :uzi:

What? They're using the name "Chevelle" to bring us another ricer looking car??? Please, say it aint so!!!!! I luv those old Cheveels, such as the 66 years, the 69, and especially the 68.......but the thing about this new uhm, thing that they're calling a "GTO" that I can't stand is that it has that same door wedge shape that most of the other cars have these days. Can you say "UGLY"????

YEP!! Seen it in April's issue of "Chevy High Performance" magazine. It is made at the Holden plant, the same place that brought us the new gto. :puke:

Holden makes some pretty cool stuff, but I wouldn't call it a GTO.
Look at the Malibu - Maxx ??? Huh?
If Olds hadn't been 'decontented', could we have seen the Alero re-badged as a 442??
:puke:
By doing crap like that, they just dishonour the names of some of their best loved classic badges.

TAF,
Here in CT we call "thick ankles" CANKLES. It is what happens when the calf goes all the way down to the foot.
Best,
Dan
PS: Will someone please buy her a sun lamp for the office?

Remember, Dan, her name is FORD. Something tells me that gives her more than one vote.

Guess we can sit out here busting on her helmet and rig all we want......but what should also be recognized is that at 37 she has probably taken an extremely difficult position (especially as a woman and a founding family member) in a bastard stepchild of a division...
Apparently her vision is minivans with tailgate seats that beep when you are backing up .....and only time will tell if she is making the right moves...
but still...I am SURE she had MUCH easier paths to take thru life, and rather than sitting around getting stoned in the family villa in the caribbean, she has put herself in the hot seat...
I think there is something to be said for that...

...can't argue with that. GM has done nothing but embarass the very names of performance that have escalated them to super car status i.e. Impala Monte Carlo, Chevelle, GTO, Nova etc. Damn, even the Corvette is starting to look like a Japanese import. Little hope remains for the return of the Camaro.
