View Full Version : Headlight cross compatability

Noticed this morning my headlight is taking on water! What years/models of cars use this same headlight, or is it another Marauder only nightmare to find part?

03-04 Marauder only for the blacked out marauder headlight. 03-05 marquis but will be clear and wont match other side. There are no OEM left and they are expensive...there are aftermarket and they are not cheap either..if replacing with new..buy both sop they match.otherwise check forsale section, I think there are a few used headlamps for sale in the mix of sale items

You can fix that if there are no defects (cracks or holes) in the lens or housing. Obviously there is a way moisture is getting in the assembly so you'll have to fix that or it will happen again.


Remove the headlight assembly
Check the bulb cover - if it's the rubber one, make sure it makes a good seal and is intact - if it's the hard cover make sure the gasket is OK.
Remove the cover and the bulb
Try and shake out as much water as possible
If it's a hot sunny day put the headlight in the sun with the back opening up
You should be able to get the headlight completely dry, if not you'll need to put it in the sun for another day or two
You can also put it in an oven set to the lowest heat setting - be sure to constantly monitor the housing so it doesn't melt.

Are the rubber boot and plastic sleeve interchangeable to the headlite case?

I'll check, but I don't believe they are since the hard cover needs some some protrusions to lock the cover on.... much like a medicine bottle and cap.

2003 and 2004 Grand Marquis headligths are the same as marauder except that they're chrome while marauder's are black. You can look for a decent set of used or new oem marquis headlights housing and black out the chrome. Also do not use 2005 marquis headligth since they have a unique squary connector in the housing harness, of course it can be modified but save the trouble.

I recommend TYC brand for aftermarket.
