Book times are mostly a joke imho.
Experience kills book time.
Tax free cash and no overhead is also a win.

I will quote this job at work tomorrow with OEM parts just to prove this is a great deal. Yes, experience helps I agree. Luckily we have members here that are willing to share the experience with others while not taking advantage of their inexperience. :) Great deal for everyone. And Zack is quite entertaining so it is worth the money spent LOL

Zack, do you strongly suggest to replace the heater core once the dash is out regardless if it's not leaking? If so how much extra would that be.
I need to replace my BDA now but I have heard too many people recommending me to take advantage and replace the heater core as well. What do you think?

Getting to the heater core is far more labor intensive.
I don't think I have ever heard of a Marauder heater core failing.
I read a while back why the Crown Vic cores were presumed to fail so much, but I forgot.

Carfixer did mine as I stood slack-jawed. Now that I understand the monumental task of removing the entire dash from the firewall I can appreciate your GENEROUS offer to do this job. It is not beyond my abilities as I am a mechanic by trade. I did one in a Grand Marquis in about 3 hours.
Its not hard when you know where all the dashboard bolts are

is the task the same to repair a standard control (turn knobs) on an 05 Grand Monkey?
my brothers flops over to 'hot' while the A/C is on cold. He has to shut down the system, restart, and we hear the door flap and gets cold air again. then it flaps over to heat again..:mad2:
seems like vacuum loss from holding the door in position?

I cant tell you for sure.
The only thing that breaks inside the actuator is one tooth off of the small gear. It's ridiculous

that is exactly what my non Ford speific mechanic said. broken at the actuator, not likely anything else. it just flops around at random.
I think the entire dash removal is still required to repair, but not 100% certain.

Post # 10 in your reference above.........carry on............
The entire dash does not need to be removed for any model.
It just pulls away about 10 inches on the PS side

Did he clean off all the dust and dirt behind all the panels you have to remove?

No. he left mouse crap and pocket lint from my kids pants all over everything. But he vacuumed after, and it works great.
