Finally took her to the track for the first time Boosted

Saturday me and a group of friends (like 50 or so) rolled up to Mid Michigan Motorplex for some late season fun. I took the Rauder to see how she runs. All I wanted to see out of her was a 12.99.... Well that was quickly not going to be enough! Right off of the trailer (yes, I trailered it because I have a trailer and would rather have it with me than need it with me) she ran 12.79! I was so happy, but that was my first pass... hmmm.... Next pass... 12.59! I could hardly believe it was a mid 12 second ride.... a few more passes with different tunes, trying to break torque it, etc etc only yielded a 12.52.... all day I was competing with a cammed, full exhaust, tuned G8 GXP... he managed to squeak out a 12.51.... damn it! One more try, dropped the tire pressure to 28 and it had cooled off by 10 degrees or so, the air was nice and cool... hmm... the light turns green and I hose the tires... ****! 12.66.... ****! I can't have that. I hot lapped her and ran again, this time I annihilated the tires in the burn out box, dry hopped, lined her up, and ripped off a 12.42 @ 111 with a 1.7 60'!!! I am very happy with how she runs, there is only one problem... 11.99 is not that far away!

By the way, 120,000 mile stock engine, eaton swapped, 13# of boost, Nitto 555r tires, 4.10 gears, stock exhaust, stock converter, full tank of gas. Oh and she hits the rev limiter between first and second gear everytime. So you see, if I can fix that it should net me another 10th or so and then add a converter... 11.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO! Nope... not going to happen yet. I am going to tweak the tune on the shifting and see where I can get it not hitting the rev limiter.

I agree - not getting .50 from a stall convertor in a car this heavy - maybe tailwind, a bit of luck and 500 lbs weight reduction :D

Is this a challenge? I truly feel I can get her there without spending a ton more money. It hits the limiter 4-5 times between 1st and 2nd, nose dives pretty hard then takes off again... I have yet to brake torque it out of the hole... between the two I may be able to get a couple of tenths... that would be 12.20 ish... converter 2-3 tenths???:bigcry::bigcry::bigc ry: STOP TEMPTING ME!

oh, that hitting the limiter is losing a tenth easily - been there, done that....
every time I launched from a torqued up foot brake, the car went slower. At this power band, they seem to like flashing from just a tip above idle, brakes barely on.
convertor may just be the 2 tenths you want, plus street funability? new word :cool:

My car went from 12.5 to consistent 12.1's leaving off idle on the stock converter. Every car is different.

This is exZACKtly what I was thinking about, I just had a full tank of 93 and leaving off idle... I KNOW I can drive it into the 11's

I drove my stone stock 89 6 speed Vette to 13.97 a few years ago. Once you learn where the traction ends and what the engine likes you can rip off some good times!

Grab it and get your desired time on pump gas before the year is over.

By your logic he will have a 1.3 sixty foot after the converter.

I don't know much of anything about anything, but I think we can agree a stall will help. Unless this is a special setup and a 3000 stall would have little or no positive impact.

Curless, don't blow up your ****. But if your going to do it make sure you do what Zack said. Add timing and octane, leave the boost alone and it will run the number.

You must have a drive mod. Nice 60 fts!
