While driving noticed my ac wasn't blowing cold and my vacuum gauge was Jumping from 15-18 while idling. Drove it home and noticed the temp need close to over heating so I quickly turned the car off and pressure from the engine forced coolant out of the tank. Turn the key to the ON position with ac on and noticed the fan wasn't spinning. Took a look at the connectors and found this. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/772d6975b33d2c952694c29e54bc85 a5.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/0eb52e33c68943daf702790815cb91 7d.jpg

Some electrical cleaner spray and some emery paper and you'll be back in business.

What could have caused this so I can prevent from happening again?

Corrosion, you live in a salt air state depending distance to coast. Use some dielectric grease liberally

Looks like water invasion and corrosion caused by electrical current...I'd clean up and use a di-electric silocone grease (lightly) on making up connection.
Wouldn't hurt to "seal" connector w/electrical tape after you know its making up correctly.

High resistance caused by poor electrical contact can generate enough heat to damage the plastic connector. Careful cleaning and dielectric grease is a possibility, although it appears the plastic connector has been melted. You can probably buy a new connector for a few bucks, which would be the better long-term solution.

You also want to confirm your fan works OK, if it was drawing excess current this could damage the connector also. But corrosion is the simplest and most likely answer.

All good advice guys thanks . Had the fan harness order.

If your fan harness did it, there's nothing stopping all the other connections throughout your car from that happening

I'd get some crc electronic cleaner and treat all connections, then dielectric grease all other connections

If it's green, eventually it will stop flowing juice and melt connectors and you don't want that!!

I'm going inspect all connectors exposed to the outside air. When changing the headlight bulbs after I purchase the car I did find some of the green stuff on the connectors which I clean but didn't add dielectric.

The high-current connections corrode the fastest. The CRC solvent won't dissolve corrosion, a mild acid like vinegar will work applied with a cotton swab. Then rinse with clear water, dry with compressed air, dielectric grease, etc. Kind of a PITA, but what else can you do?

Yeah your right, if it's slightly corroded the electronic cleaner does work, but if it's friggin green like in his picture, just cut it out and cut back the wire to see how far back it goes. Nothing better than using a 3 inch 3m emery wheel (using it by hand) to really clean the ones you can't replace at that time

I had to jumpstart my power stroke today, popped the red flap off the marauders battery, yuk, friggin nasty corrosion. Off with the red moisture collector and time to hit the pressure washer. Then I'll add the diet coke to it, that stuff work great!

Its blatantly obvious your weatherpack seal is missing.

Something I'll be adding. Bought the car from a former member of this site. Was told that it was in great shape before I flew out to meet the guy and make the purchase. I was there for 1 day only. Engine bay was hideoushttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/ecfdfafeac62c4fbf9cff4cbcd707a 1c.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/760b34670d51189a7dfb047d8f5fa6 b4.jpg
Had quite a bit of oil and rust. The oil I cleaned off. That was the oil motorhttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/01/480050eaa82aadb17748becd5a1ea0 22.jpgthis was after I swapped my 03 motor. $3500 for the car should of known I'd be investing more $$$

I have to purchase the fan assembly. Jumped the fan and it works but can't find the female pigtail anywhere locally. Seems to be a common issues I'm guessing

Get a Weather Pack connector(s) and splice it in place of the OEM connector. Use some silicone dielectric grease to seal the connectors from water invasion.

I don't like stuff looking out of place. I'll use your advice as well as finding a way to keep the female housing

That connector has to be available somewhere, although I'm not at all surprised you can't get it local. Have you tried Tasca parts?

I guess the whole fan assembly seems more than needed, but I try and remind myself how (relatively) inexpensive these cars are to maintain.

I need a new fan assembly. Jumped the fan again and if I jump it after the controller the fan spins but if I jump it before the controller its sparks and does nothing. I tried with the ac both ON/OFF. Which tells me the fans controller is toast

The fan controller is run by ground pulses from the pcm.

Learn something new. I'm just going to clean as best as I can and try it while plugged in the car

You don't have Crown Vics, Grand Marquis or Town Cars?

I find that hard to believe

Nothing 03 and up. The town cars I saw didn't have the same connector. No fan controller. All the panthers I saw either had no fan assembly or the connectors were different then ours

Some places these are hard to find. I think the cab companies pick them clean.

Got it working. [emoji16]thanks for everyone advice and giving me accurate info on this matter. I was able to just clean the connections really well add some dielectric and put it back together. You guys are F***ing awesome
