Ford has finally sent me a letter after one year to replace my LCM under warranty. Recall 14N-01 has parts available dealers across the country to replace without charge the LCM for free to owners of 2003 and 2004 Grand Marquis showing the Marauder VIN of my car. Thanks Ford

If you can somehow proof that you paid a shop like some receipt or something Ford will refund you that money!

I just received my second letter for this 14N-01 recall since I own two MM. I will post a reply from Bay Ridge Ford about getting money back from Ford since both my cars have new Ford replacements I paid for and installed myself. We will see GoldPanther how they honor this recall and since I have one original LCM what Ford and its dealers will do.

I got the original letter (what like a year ago?) and now got this one yesterday. Unfortunately, I replaced my LCM myself maybe a year before the first letter.

If anyone needs a DOA LCM to return to Ford I have a few... just need to pay for the ride.

I bought an LCM from a Ford Dealership like maybe 3 years ago. I still have the receipt. But I installed myself. Can I get reimbursed for that? I don't think so.

For the LCM yes.. your labor.. no.

I put in the paper at my local Ford dealership and I will wait for a response from Ford. I think Fastblackmerc is correct the purchase price of part will be reimbursed not the labor. I wait for an answer from Ford.

About 15 minutes of your time and a 7mm nutdriver.

LCM Removal:

The LCM is about the size of a brick and is located just to the right of the steering column, in front of the gas pedal.

There are 3 electrical connectors on the LCM.

Remove the bottom two connectors by depressing the tabs and pulling on the connectors.

Remove the 2 mounting screws with a 7mm nut driver or socket.

Push the LCM towards the gas pedal while rotating it up towards the roof. Once it’s free of the bracket, pull the front of the LCM down towards the floor.

You should now be able to release the last electrical connector.

Just reverse the steps for re installation.

received 8 letters today. Ford told me to come pick up the parts if I want to change them myself.

I also got my letter on Friday. Since my LCM was repaired more than two years ago by a master mechanic, who is also in our club, I'll ignore the letter.

Why would I replace a poorly made part with another poorly made part?

Installed mine from him today and it works perfectly!!:bows:

Thanks Jim!!

Ford wanted $ 1300 for the replacement (28 months ago). They cited 4 hours labor to remove and install the LCM and $ 700 for the part.

I had it out in 20 minutes. It was back in after Jim sent it back, in 10 minutes. The whole deal cost me $ 50.00, not the $ 1300 that mother Ford wanted. It was also improved by Jim with his "makes sense" modification.

Experience is the best teacher, but I still watched a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woGA1X4g0l0) or two to find the missing second brass 7mm screw - it was hiding under wiring.

Next the bit about, "push toward the gas pedal while rotating toward the roof", took a few tries. I was fearful or breaking something. Once I got pissed off, the pushing and rotating began to work. :)

The unit on the way to you for re-building.

Ford won't touch it since it's modified and didn't I send you a receipt so you could get a reimbursement from Ford?

Went to my Ford dealer today for parts for my F-250 SD and spoke with service writer about Ford paying me for LCM purchased 1 year earlier. What's going on with Ford?
