Just bought a wrecked '03 merc. I was going to see what oil pressure it was running. It has the two gauges there oil/volt but there is no wire going to them. I am hoping somebody didn't deliberately remove them to hide a oil pressure problem. I am thinking it may have a big plug with a small harness connected to it that splits off and goes to the gauges and cigarette lighter. Appreciate any pictures or if somebody knows someone that has one it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just a fyi the oil pressure gauge is a glorified dummy gauge, the volt meter is real. As far as the wiring gors it's been a long while since I swapped mine over to a real oil pressure gauge.

The volt meter is not perfect but it does work and as said, the oil pressure gauge is a simply on/off switch as it reads it as 55-58 all the time, does not fluctuate. There is no sender unit, adding a sender does not change it either. only way is to change to a real oil pressure gauge (electrical, not mechanical)

Well there is a sending unit but technically it is a switch rather than a true sender.
You will want to switch the switch for a sender. :D

Appreciate the responses. Well I thought they would more reliable than that.. Anyway I was going to let the motor run awhile and heat up and then monitor the oil pressure. I am putting this in a F100.I didn't want to do all this work just to have a serious problem later. Once I get the front clip off I may go ahead and put a direct oil pressure gauge on it then.

First you'll need to dig deeper into the harness to see if or where the wires / connectors are. I can't imagine that someone would deliberately cut the connectors off. Maybe you purchased a clone?!?!?!?!
When you install the new oil pressure and voltmeter these are the part numbers you will need:
Replacement Gauges – Autometer (2 1/16)
Oil Pressure – 4327
Sending unit – 2242
Voltmeter – 4391
You'll want to replace both gauges as they are slightly different than the OEM style. If you replace only one the difference is noticeable. If you replace both only a seasoned Marauder owner will be able to tell the difference.

They are not going into a marauder..the motor is being used for a F100 transplant project the OP wrote in another thread.

I was primarily was just wanting something to tell me if the oil pressure was good and how much oil pressure I had once it ran for awhile. If the gauges are not reliable then I will just hook up an actual gauge with the oil line.

Just hook up a cheap oil pressure gauge to the port on the engine.
