View Full Version : center bore size?

I am trying to source hub centric rings for AR883 wheels. What is the center bore (or OD of the hub) on the Marauder? I have seen 2-3/4" mentioned, which converts to 69.9mm. But I also have seen 70.3mm mentioned.
Anybody know for sure? I will pull out the calipers this evening to measure, but rust on the hub and the inaccuracies of measuring a round I.D. may not help accuracy.

70.3 went through the same thing

Thanks, I may need to clean off some surface rust on the hubs. The rings I have are 70.3mm ID and 72.6mm OD, but actually measure 72.4mm OD with my cheap calipers. The AR883 wheel is claimed to be 72.6mm bore, so this should all work. But it seems to be a tight fit. Perhaps a rubber mallet should be used.
I am also looking at 1/2-20 lug nuts right now. They have some 6-spline "tuner" lugs available, not sure if that is what I want. I need to get a smaller socket inside the lug recess in the wheel. A 13/16" 1/2" drive impact socket that I use for the factory lugs doesn't fit inside the new wheels, although a thinwall 13/16 socket does. I'm thinking either 3/4" hex head lug, or maybe that 6-spline thing.

70.3mm is indeed the wheel hub OD after the rust is polished off. But a hub centric ring with an ID of 70.3mm results in an interference fit. I contacted these guys (http://www.motorsport-tech.com/) and they said the appropriate ID was 70.5mm.
Waiting . . .
Went with the McGard 6-spline lugs and lock. Not cheap, but appear to be well-made and fit neatly inside the lug bore in the wheel without scratching the wheel with the socket.

Really would love to go with one of the full floating 9 inch rear ends , with a mini tub job, just hate to think of what it will cost.

The axle with Strange HD pro and Tru-trac was $4K. But then you have to put brackets, Watt's link and ABS rings on. Probably want a splined hollow sway bar also.

I clearly don't need it , but i have always wanted to drop a 9inch under the Marauder, can't stop thinking about this mod , i blame Lifespeed!
Actually for what you got that's not bad.

Installed cost with torque arm suspension, needle bearing Watt's link pivot and arms, sway bar, etc. will easily double the axle price .

Yeah tell me about it! fabrication labor always usually exceeds the cost of the parts.
