Hey guys and gals,

First off let me start by saying I did a search under the topic "vibration" and found no topics that deal directly with my problem, so here it goes.
Last week my 00 CVPI was rear-ended (and quite hard too I believe). The bumper cover, left tail light, and left exhaust pipe were severly damaged.
The exhaust pipe was shoved into the rear left tire, and bent in half. The car would not go very far do to the rubbing, so I had no choice but to take it to Midas to get them to replace the tail pipe (not muffler).
They replaced it, and a day or two later I started noticing that at 1K RPM's (aprox.) the car vibrates through the floor, and when driving on the highway it vibrates much worse, increasing with speed.
So my question is, does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this?

Some other facts:

1. I just had the tires replaced and balanced 1 week before the , and they rode fine.
2. I have also been having a "late shift" problem with my tranny (even though I have had it replaced twice within 100 miles) where the tranny doesn't down shift when floored until about 5500 RPM's, or until i left off the gas and then get back on it.
3. When I drive through the car wash now (any car wash with undercarriage wash) the car comes out of the wash bucking like crazy (like a COP is going bad) even though I had all 8 COP's recently replaced with "Ford" coils (which I recently learned are not the same as Motorcraft coils). The car never used to do this either.
4. I know this isn't a marauder problem, but I figured that the two cars might share the source of the problem, and you guys are always a big help, so I figured I mine as well try.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know about the COP problem, but if you got hit hard enough to bend the exhaust pipe, it may have bent your rim. I don't have that problem with an undercarridge wash.

The rim/tire may balance, but if they aren't straight anymore, you'll always get a vibration.

Just my $0.02.

Ahey cap'in, you don't say if you already took it to have the bodywork done or not. You got hit and then just replaced the exhaust, you may have frame damage and more. Need more of the story.

Sorry bout that, I had it taken in to have the exhaust replaced and then the next day took it to Dodge (allstate repair center) and they replaced the bumper cover and rear tail light. The repairs needless to say we not to my satisfaction, so they ordered another cover and tail light, that I have yet to pick up.

Also forgot to mention that the car vibrates this same vibration when sitting still and can be felt through steering wheel, seat, and floor.

I also forgot to mention that when they replaced the tail pipe, they replaced it with a tailpipe that is ribbed, versus the old one which was not. Could this be causing back pressure??

Could the floor vibration be caused by damaged/improperly hung exhaust?

That is what I was thinking.

I had same problem on a Corvette where Midas hung the exhaust. Bad vibration/humming all the time. Somewhere under the car it is too close to the body or frame. It's transmitting the vibration into the car. It can't be any thing in the back rotating since it does it while sitting still. Sometimes you can shake the exhaust pipe while under it and see where it is too close.

I looked under the car yesterday and didn't see any place it was touching or coming close, but maybe i missed something and will look again.
