Will a windage tray from a 96-98 Cobra (teksid) fit on the Marauder's WAP block, and under the stock pan if the proper studs are used? Has anyone done it?

Amazed no one has attempted this. Guess I'll let everyone know when I build my shortblock

Why do ya need a windage tray??

Well, I'm building a bullet proof bottom end, and happen to have the Cobra piece laying around. Before I order my main studs, I wondered if it would fit the stock pan, if not I'll order studs without tray provisions..
As for WHY a tray in general? I'm sure you know it keeps the oil from frothing up due to the counter weights whipping the oil up.

Not necessary but go for it if you wish!!:shake:
BTW....."bullet proof" is a misnomer.....not possible 'cause anything can/will break!!:argue:
I don't know what your goals are but good luck in your endeavor!!

Thanks, I am building a bottom end with a 03 Cobra crank, scat h-beams, and Diamond pistons, once I turn the wick up, I'll upgrade to a sufficient fuel system, and drop a whipple or Kenne Bell on to push upper 600 to mid 700 range. I'll have all supporting mods done before hand as well.
So by your  , what do you think the engineers who designed trays / crank scrapers had in mind, just engine jewelry? I know it's not necessary. I have the tray.. I have to order studs.. Thus the question ;)
And thanks, I know even 'bullet proof' is breakable.

Any decent engine will have measures taken to keep oil in the pan by the pick up tube inlet, and away from creating a 'rope' like restriction on the rods/pistons rotation at extended/high rpm's. Thus, a windage tray.
Froth is atop my beer mug ;)

Newer GT500 oil pan gaskets have built in trays, kinda neat. Not sure of its fitment with pickup tubes though.

If your talking about the Ford Racing # M-6687-D46 Windage Tray kit it is the exact part used in the Marauder engine. Found one new in the box at a swap meet. The tag on it said 96-04 Ford Mustang 4.6 2V & DOHC engine. When I took the pan off a Marauder engine I matched the parts up. Identical down to the special main bearing cap studs.

So a marauder has a tray factory? I've never removed a Marauder engine.. YET.. If so, then this thread is useless lol.

There is no windage tray in a factory Marauder motor.

I've had two Marauder engines opened up. Both had a windage tray that was the same as an '03 Cobra. It is short, only the length of the sump. The front has a windage flap welded to the oil pickup tube.
This is what it looks like. Second picture is a Teksid block though.

That is the same tray I have from a Cobra.. But now I have two different posts on whether or not they're factory.. Any other engine guys want to chime in and be the tie breaker?

I'll go with that. From the looks of the pic posted above though, it does seem my cobra tray will fit, do you agree Motown?

Only one way to find out, have at it , then you will know what works from your own experience.

I've always considered a windage tray as running the length of the crankshaft, but ok , it's a "midget" style windage tray , always thought of it as a cheap baffle.

Aviator engines do not have a windage tray. A changed motor may not have it. The 2 pans I have had off had the same tray. The 2 Aviator engines did not.
