This is something I had not heard previously.
Does the MM have a different rack and pinion ratio/setup than the other Panther platform cars?
If so, does it stand on it's own, or would other units have the same setup?

My curiosity has been piqued.

It has a different part number, probably the only way to find out 100% would be to compare them side by side in operating condition. I did notice the different part number a couple years back when I needed to order a rack for a Vic.

And fwiw, I would not order a reman unit unless it was from ford, I went through 3 before I got one that the vaps worked on and didn't leak like a sieve.

Been racking my brain ( see what I did there?) trying to recall the difference between the MM and my CV sport while driving.
They both have the VAPS systems, but I just can't seem to recall a difference in turning ratios.
Maybe guys who currently have both models could chime in.
I'd like to know if a rack swap would be worthwhile.

Is the CV rack equipped with VAPS? If not, not worth swapping them.

I'll slide under and double check, but I see wires running to it and the specs for the 03-4 CV list VAPS in them.

Police versions are for certain.

Ok. This is where the VAPS module resides, correct?

It's there.

Now, that says nothing about ratio... I'd love to know if it's a quicker ratio for the MM.....

This made me go into my storage and dig out the rack I bought from Ed Daniels when he lost his first Marauder.
I bought the rack and pump assemblies from him.

I have not opened either of them until today!

It sure looks the same as my CV rack.

So, according to those links:
Marauder rack 18:5 ratio
Crown Vic rack 16:4 ratio

So... I'll wait until it needs a new rack or something to make the swap.

That is correct but you'll also need the rest of the VAPS system.

Women have more experience with Racks. Guys only play around with them on Occasion.

Looking at the specifications, it seems that all the Panther platform cars from 2003 up, have "speed sensitive steering".So, the Marauder is not special in that.
However, the quicker ratio looks to be Marauder only, so far.
