It's Time!!! Marauderville 2016 !!!

The time to plan Marauderville 2016 is upon us!! Here are the criteria and timeframe for proposals. MM.Net Administration will review the proposals, which must be submitted by February 1, 2016. Look for an announcement in Late February 2016 for MV2016!! (email address below)

Criteria for Marauderville 2016

Lodging

Hotel must be affordable. Someone MUST make an on-site visit to determine available facilities.
Amenities: King and Two Queen rooms; High Speed Internet (preferably at no extra charge); dining room, banquet facility, bar all on-site or within close proximity; pool preferred.
The hotel must be able to offer a block of no less than 50 rooms and have ample parking. Security is a high priority.

Itinerary
¼ or 1/8 mile drag strip, Road course or oval track within a reasonable distance and the cost of use. Test and Tune is an affordable option. Not a requirement but the Members do enjoy the opportunity.
Things to see and do: plant/factory tours, museums, breweries, local culture, Cruises, anything automotive and/or transportation related a plus.
Car Show with awards
Maraudervilles have traditionally been a Thursday through Sunday event, though other days to fit a specific scheduled event would be fine. Early Fall would be ideal, although other times will be considered depending on circumstances such as events we can piggyback on.
Consider the distances needed to travel in between itinerary locations as well as traffic and turns.
Down time and time to socialize are important so there's no need to fill every minute of the day.

Responsibilities of Planning Team

Communication and follow-through are the most important tasks for the Team. MM.Net will provide a closed forum for the Planning Team so all communications and tracking are in once place.
Site visits to potential hotels and all proposed venues.
Contact and pricing for awards. If you have no one local, we can provide info from prior vendors that served us well.
T-shirt design: We had a great experience with MartyO's shirt vendor last year, including drawing the design and printing the shirts. The Planning Team should come up with a design/logo concept that the graphic artist can create.
Contact Supporting Vendors and local area businesses and Chamber of Commerce for support of MV2016.
Manage as a team any fundraising opportunities to help reduce the cost of Registration for Attendees.
Please include projected costs for any itinerary options such as admissions, fees, rentals, meals, catering, insurance, etc. It is OK to suggest "meal on your own."

Use 100 people as a guideline for costs.

Relate why you feel Marauderville 2016 should be at your location. What makes it “special & unique”?

Any members of previous planning teams would be more than happy to share their experiences. MM.Net pays all the bills and if you must front money, you will be reimbursed with receipts. MM.Net manages the Eventbrite and PayPal functions.

Please submit your proposal to MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net (MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net) by February 1, 2016. Follow-up on the proposal may be needed, so please include names, email addresses and phone numbers of Members involved in the proposal.

The most important part of planning and execution is a dedicated group of people - doesn't need to be many - that can follow through with all aspects of the event. Also, not everyone on the Planning Team needs to live in the proposed Host Site.

If you have any questions, please email MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net (MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net) or talk to Dan or Mary.

I have no proposals, just showing the map and hinting Golden State as a good candidate due to the disproportion, again no propositions on my behalf.

It doesn't matter about proportion or disproportion..Maraduerville isn't chosen by that. It is "proposed" by the members in an area that put together all the activities, hotel, eating, tours, events etc. and is then chosen by the owners of the site from all proposals, so if you want the golden state then you and the west coast members need to put together a proposal. It is not just a wish, hint and a hope..A super ton of work is involved.

Not sure what happens if no one submits a venue criteria.

I think West Virginia is good for an ABT meet but not sure it would be good for a Marauderville.. Unless it's up in Wheeling and can run in tandem with Pittsburgh

But WVA has awesome highway roads with high speed limits that would make terrific caravan and convoys. Much fun traveling to Louisville through West Virginia

It's even easier to fix with the ProGard. Cut a piece of 2x4 (or anything else you can get ahold of) to the right length to push the center of the bumper up a little bit. Squirt some RTV between the bumper and ProGard, then prop the board in overnight. Next morning, it's fixed!

Marauderville is chosen based a proposal from area members that wish to host it by doing research for hotel ,activities, meals , tours etc. securing pricing etc. its not just chosen. If no one enters a proposal then the owners here choose, I believe, a place... a number of years ago it was in Hershey , PA

The last MV that was organized by an owner was Indy 2. Mercman and his helpers did that one.

Big city events are tough as peeps don't want to drive in the city and all it's problems. The Chicago crowd rented a bus to take people around to see the sites and that seemed to work well.

Va would be a good place as it's fairly central for a lot of people and there are a lot of things to do where we could drive to. Just need local peeps to do some leg work. Bristol area was brandied about a few years back.

All booked and voted. Been a few years since we have had the option of doing Marauderville.

Did I miss the T-shirt thread? We're in for a ladies Lg and a Men's 4xlTall

I had 32 oz of Guiness on Fremont St in Vegas, a couple of weeks ago. The problem is that the beer got warm before I finished it.

My problem is that I would have passed out before I finished it. 32 oz.... WOW.

Can t shirts be bought for this event if you cant attend ?Yes, hoping to have it in the EventBrite soon. But, seeing how Newport / Florence KY is less than 4 hours from the hotel. You should drive up and meet us in person and pick up your shirt!

For those of us that cannot make it to all of the fun, is there a link available to order a T-Shirt or will that be provided when the design is completed?

Thanks

Steve

It bears repeating...

Your most important task today is to make your hotel reservation by 11:59pm EDT, today, Monday, Augusy 8 - the "Cut-off Date."

Cancellation timeframe is listed below - 72 hours before arrival. Don't be caught short paying full price. The hotel has no obligation to provide our group rate after the "Cut-off Date."

Confirmation of rooms after the Cut-Off Date will only be accepted based on availability of contracted room type(s) and at the Hotel’s prevailing rates. Cancellation of any reservation must be made 72 hours prior to arrival date and confirmed by the Hotel cancellation number.

For those who don't know, Steve was the Program Manager for the Marauder when he was at Ford, so he can answer almost ANY question you have about why things were done a certain way.

Just don't ask him why it was cancelled... ;)

Not that it is a tourist attraction or a big deal, and don't want to take away from planned activities of Marauderville, but Summit Racing Ohio store is 36 miles from hotel and is open 9 to 9. Mainly parts displayed, rims, tires, shirts, hats, waxes cleaners etc. and a scratch and dent section. They have 2 cars on a turntable in the entrance that rotate like once a month which are generally local cars on loan. And customer service attendants to look up parts with you and can buy there if in stock at that location.

There will be construction going on in Akron at then 76/Rt 8 interchange so if you want more info, let me know.

some very interesting facts learned from Steve Babcock, The program for the Marauder Budget was $35 million. He then turned to Roush performance for power plant.

So to ignore the Babcock/Roush involvement is unjust to the Marauder.

Steve and Carol are so generous to provide their time for the entire MV14 and was one of the biggest highlight's of the event for us.
