    Electric issue 2004 CVLX

Yesterday while I was driving I start noting something strange, the battery light turn on for a few seconds and then go off after that the volt indicador start to go up a little more than half and when I stop the Panther the indicator drops so to keep it in near middle I have to leave in neutral and lightly accelerate it. Help

Has anything been done to the car lately?

    How old is your battery?

How are your battery connectors and grounds?

Have you ever replaced any of the resistors?

Without knowing the mileage I'd say this is the sign of a weak alternator or a failed/slipping alternator clutch. I just replaced mine at 49K miles (on a REAL Marauder) but it tested fine and passed a bench test. 11 volts under load in real world conditions. The clutch was seized and didn't allow run-on but I could not tell if it was able to slip on the load side of the belt. The clutch was almost as expensive as a whole alternator so I bought a complete one and alleviated my issue.

Check out the electrical system - battery and alternator. I don't know about P.R. but here in the ConUS most FLAPS will test the system fro free.

Make sure all the + & - connections are clean and tight.

Osvaldo, get a hold of a voltmeter and test the voltage at the battery while idling, then, leaving the black lead on the negative terminal move the red lead to the output terminal of the alternator and see if the voltage is different...it should be the same within a couple of tenths.

If they are different, you likely have some corrosion on the battery terminals or cables.

    HELLO?

Start with the easiest and least expensive first. Has anything been done to the car lately?

Had a similar issue on the way into work the other morning in the F150. All the sudden, the radio cuts off and the headlights start to dim...got off the freeway and pulled into the closest parking lot. At the stop light, it did the same thing as yours. I replaced the alternator with a rebuilt one and the battery was over 5 years old so I replaced that as well. Problem was fixed.
