    Vrrrrrt noise

Occasionally when I accelerate I hear a slight quick "vrrrt" kind of noise. I thought it might be some belt wear so I did look under the hood for any obvious signs. Nothing looked unusual to me. I don't notice the noise at all on the highway, just driving around on normal roads.

Any thoughts before I start trying to dig deeper on this noise?

Do you hear the sound between gear changes, or immediately after a shift?

Belts look good but can be worn out, change it. Then look into pulley's, start with idler and then tensioner. Maybe a squirt of a light machine oil in the bearings.

    Good luck,

Not necessarily. Younger is more Vrrrttt; older brings flab into play and results in more Bllaatt.

We are all thinking the same thing.

Back to the OP, Could it be coming from the A/C system?

    You guys are hilarious. lol

I didn't notice the noise yesterday but I was mostly on the highway. It was happening before pretty regularly just driving around town. I was trying to record it and of course that was when it wasn't making the noise anymore. lol

I haven't been running the A/C for awhile as the season is getting cooler here. Could it still make a noise?

A few times it did seem to appear just before a shift. But not always.

What are you saying that might mean?

I was digging to see if it was related to the alternator clutch pulley. But that only makes noise after a shift, never before.

I'm really thinking it might have something to do with the exhaust. Maybe a loose heat shield or something. When I get the intermittent no crank no start looked at, I'll have the stealership look for this issue as well.

Took the Marauder to the stealership and they said the Vrrt noise was coming from the driver's side catalytic converter and flow master. They wanted to keep it to dig into it. As it was end of day and my wife didn't want me to leave the car, left it at that for now.

Ahhhhhh, that could be the metal shroud around the cat. I had to reweld mine a few years back because of that annoying noise when it vibrated. If it's not, it could also be some loose honeycomb that's broke loose inside the cat itself
