    Mishimoto thermostat

    Hello everyone
I found a mishimoto thermostat which opens at 155F unlike the factory thermostat which is opens at 190F
The question is is it ok for the engine? It won't hurt since its a really far drop in temp? Also am installing dual 12" derale fans n 3 row custom alluminim radiator, if ur wondering why, the weather is really hot down here n i need to make the engine more comfortable since am crazy with that gas pedal

A very low temperature thermostat can cause more problems than it solves. The engine is designed and tuned to operate in a specific temperature range. In addition, the computer doesn't turn the fans on until 190°(iirc) unless programmed otherwise.
There is a theory that a low temp thermostat will stay open too much of the time, allowing the coolant to flow too quickly through the radiator, and not drop in temp before returning to the engine.
I personally have never experienced this. May just be an old mechanics tale.
I would do the radiator and fans, and install a new motocraft thermostat.

Running a Reische 170 with a corrected tune from MartyO. Temp rarely goes over 178 even in 98 degree temps with the air on at a light.
