    MV 2016 Itinerary

Wednesday, Sept 7: Welcome to Embassy Suites and MV2016! Look for us in the Atrium on Wed afternoon, Thurs 8am during breakfast, and again Thurs afternnon before leaving for the HofBrauHaus

As always, not all events are a must show, unless you have paid for tickets, I've listed a number of alternate ideas for your interests.

There is a Manager's reception every evening from 5:30 -7:00, with beverages and light snacks.

Summit Motorsports Park, Wednesday night is fun night. http://www.summitmotorsportspark.com...6/-/-?Itemid=1I plan on leaving the hotel at 4:30, gates open at 5:00, Start running at 5:30. 53 miles west, pretty much a straight shot. about an hour drive, if we can get on the road a little earlier, even better, miss rush hour traffic

The Cleveland Indians are in town playing the Houston Astros at Progressive Field at 7:10,Progressive Field 2401 Ontario Ave, Cleveland; , 9.1 miles, about 14 min. from hotel for those of you not interested in racing.
JACK casino is about a block or two north of the stadium,
https://www.jackentertainment.com/cleveland , just reopened last week after being closed for 40 hours to re-brand itself , after formerly being known as Horseshoe Casino. It's located at the base of the Terminal Tower. 100 Public Square, Cleveland.

Tilted Kilt, www.tiltedkilt.com/cleveland is also located across the street from the JACK.

    Thursday, Sept 8:

8:30am, train leaves at 9 am, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad www.CVSR.com
7900 Old Rockside Rd, Independence , OH 44131
1.8 miles from the Embassy Suites (6 minute drive)

6:00pm leave forHofBrauHaus, www.hofbrauhauscleveland.com/ for dinner, reservation at 6:30
1550 Chester Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115
9.1 miles from Hotel (15 minute drive)
Speed limit is 60mph in Cuyahoga county, watch your speed, especially on this trip and Fridays. There are speed cameras on I-77, north of the hotel! Don't feed the cameras!

Friday, Sept 9: Leave hotel about 9 am

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, www.Rockhall.com
1100 E. 9th st (may also be called Rock and Roll Blvd on your GPS
11.7 miles from hotel (about 16 minutes depending on traffic)
There is the Rock Hall Cafe on the third floor with food and beverage options for lunch. Depending on your level of interest, you can spend all day there. But be warned, Mr & Mrs. YIMMA can confirm, it closes at 5:30 pm, and you will be shown the door!

For those, not interested in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC), www.greatscience.com , is right next door, between the Rock Hall and the Cleveland Browns stadium.

The William G Mather steamship is right behind the GLSC, tickets are available at the GLSC

There is also an OmniMax theater attached to the GLSC, you can purchase tix to any one, two, or all three at GLSC. See website for details.

The USS Cod submarine is to the east of the Rock hall, next to Burke Lakefront airport, (not Hopkins, this is a smaller executive type plane airport, we will pass it just before the exit ramp. It is about a five minute walk.

There is a Winking Lizard Tavern, just .4 miles south of the Rock Hall at 1301 E. 9th St, an 8 min walk.

There is a brand new restaurant that was built and opened since planning started called Neuvo Modern, a mexican restaurant, took up some of the parking lot, where I originally planned to park. Jerry, Diane and I checked it out this past friday for lunch, good food, even better Margaritas, I recommend the Cactus! With that said, our parking may have changed, the lot went from $8 a day to $15. Do we want to pay $15, may have a chance at a great photo backdrop, or pay $10 also nearby? We will be parked from about 9:30 till 8pm, so all day

Most of the above close at 5:00-5:30, then

Goodtimes III happy hour cruise, https://www.goodtimeiii.com/ right behind the Rock Hall, right off the parking lot that I'm planning to use for Friday. Parking is $15/day, note: last paragraph. The cruise starts boarding at 5:30, Cruise from 6:30 till 8:00. rain or shine. Beverages and snacks are available. They also have narrated sightseeing cruises at noon and 3pm, if you're interested. There is also a 9:45pm dance cruise available.

Saturday, Sept 10: A brewery tour and car show is planned.

Noon, leave for Fat Heads Taphouse and brewery, 18741 Sheldon Rd, Middleburgh heights, OH. About 16 minute drive, 13.5 miles. Brewery tours are at 1, 2 and 3, on your own. There is seating indoors to get out of the sun, with food available, it is a restaurant and brewery

8:00 pm: Raffle in the conference Room

Sunday, Sept 11: Goodbyes, until next time..

Make sure that you bring your GPS or smart phone with GPS. We are not planning any group convoys, the sheer size and short distances becomes a danger to us and other traffic with under speed limit speeds by the lead and excessive speeds to catch up. Other traffic trying to cut through getting on or off the highways has caused some near misses in the past. Me, experiencing one, I don't know how the car fit between me and the next Marauder, they also kicked up debris hitting my grill and windshield. I have not participated in any large convoys since. I want to see everyone leave CLE as they arrived, safe and undamaged. I have no problems with small convoys, just keep them small. I understand that some may not have GPS. Just stay safe. I'll give out my cell phone number as MV nears, in case anyone gets lost

Sounds like fun Ken. If I understand we will be able to park at the R&RH of F and be able to walk to everything you listed? One stop parking 'is a good thing' to quote Martha.

I will bring my GPS but don't be surprised to see my mug in your rear view mirror at every turn, I hate being lost.

Helpful hint is to print a copy of the GPS addresses for the peeps and give everyone a copy when they check in for their goodie bag.

    See you at Carlisle?

Looks like a great itinerary, Ken. I'd suggest Thompson for racing, but the Gasser Nationals are that weekend (a great time, but they won't let Marauders run with the old gassers).

HIGHLY recommend everyone do the Mather! We did that at a CVN meet in 2013 and it was a great time.

The RNRHOF is definitely walkable to a lot of what was listed.

I will have ProRauder there as this is just before DRAGWEEK 2016 and that starts in OH as well. I'd like to race if possible. Maybe we can talk TripleThreat into bringing his over and we can see which one is faster...

Yes Gordon, you may. It'll be great to see you again.

Anyone else wishing to bring items for the raffle would be greatly appreciated, even something that you won previously that you don't need.

This looks like a great itinerary and being from Cleveland I've done all of it and it's all fun! I don't know if you have a place in mind for the car show, but there is a Quaker Steak near the hotel in Valley View. That would be a great place to park all the cars for a show, judging, dinner and photo opps! The Rock Hall would be another place for great photos of all the cars. Perhaps, if contacted, you could make arrangements with management to park together in front of the building for a photo shoot? And just an FYI, the Rock Hall is a bit of a distance from downtown, so I'm not sure you'd want to walk to places like the casino or The Hoffbrauhaus. I love the idea of a convoy (my husband and I have never done one) and I do understand the complications. However, there are a couple of great routes on surface streets that might be fun! For instance, Cleveland has an awesome park system, The Cleveland Metroparks which has some very nice places to cruise together and all at low speeds. And, as luck would have it, we do have several police connections, including in Independence! There's another great cruising route, River Rd which winds around the Chagrin Valley then eventually into Chagrin Falls which has some fabulous scenery and restaurants. We're really looking forward to this meet! It'll be our first one! Thanks for putting together this great itinerary!!

Just browsed through the links for the venues like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Hofbrauhaus, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway, and the Goodtimes III Happy Hour cruise. This really looks like it's gonna be a great time. Bernie and I are both very excited about this trip. Looks like its going to be terrific. Can't wait until September to see the gang and enjoy some Cleveland hospitality.
